I read your instructions on performing the isolation test in either earlier in this thread or a different one
Grabbed the meter since I saw that when replacing the SC doesn't solve the issue, it generally gets difficult. Never used a multi-meter before, but I posted up since I was interested in learning. Never expected to have this solved in a night

There was a kind of crackling sound coming from the PS as soon as it was plugged in, but I wouldn't call...

Wow. Sucks I paid for this. Oh well, lesson learned the hard way.

Definitely 7 blinks. Performed the isolation test, also 7 blinks.

Thanks for the reply tw2005, sorry for the lateness of mine. I had my TV at work so I've brought it home. Picked up a multimeter on the way home.

It's most definitely a refurb. I've got a pic or two of my old one but may be hard to distinguish individual caps. I'll take some of this one and post them up soon.

Hi all,

I have a P50ST30A, died up here in Broome. There aren't any electronics experts for a 1000km.

Had 7 blinks, was advised by TV repair store in Melbourne it was probably SC board. Paid (a large amount) for a refurbished SC board (had to post mine in too), plugged it in, still 7 blinks. I will try diagnosing the SU and SD boards as suggested above and look into purchasing a multi-metre to do further testing if necessary.

Hello,

I'm a complete novice at electronics and I came here to try and learn more!

Despite having a great interest in computer components, I've never held a soldering iron and know next to nothing about electric circuits, so I figured this place would be a great start.

Recently my Panasonic plasma up and died so I suppose it's a catalyst to begin learning about electronics and more importantly - fixing them.

Looking forward to meeting some like minded individuals here
