Super Famicom with video issues
A friend of mine recently gave me a Super Famicom with video issues. I tested and checked the power adapter & av cable with a good known unit and seem fine. I opened the console and cleaned it but still the problem remains. I tried a hot blower on the part of the board where the aluminum capacitors are and the pictures seems to improve but will go back to the video problem as soon as it cools down.
I want to replace these capacitors on picture 2 but I'm not sure about the values. I can see the 3 row markings of these caps as:

AOC TFT1560PS - dark/black spot on top right corner
I've got a 15 inch AOC TFT1560PS LCD monitor with dark spot on the top right corner of the screen. It's also visible when the monitor is unplugged and powered off. I'm guessing it's a problem with the LCD? Is it fixable or need to be replaced? This is one of the two LCD monitors that I'm not using anymore. I just thought maybe if I can fix it before selling.
Also, monitor auto shut off when I adjust brightness maybe 70% and above.
Please attach picture....Last edited by korotoyo; 02-02-2017, 07:39 PM.

Dell E171FP - dark 1/3 inch black/dark spot on top
I've got a 17 inch Dell E171FP LCD monitor with dark spot across the top of the screen. It's also visible when the monitor is unplugged and powered off. I'm guessing it's a problem with the LCD? Is it fixable or need to be replaced? I have two of these LCD monitors that I'm not using anymore. I just thought maybe if I can fix it before selling.

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
Yeah I know. I only took pictures of page 6 & page 7, the ones I changed values from.
Thank you all guys for the help!...Last edited by korotoyo; 02-02-2017, 05:23 PM.

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
I tried some values for the Mode0 & Mode1 but nothing works.
I've gone over all the service menu pages but couldn't find anything related to op4....

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
Yes it does turn on automatically before. And yes I changed the "INITIAL" value maybe to 00 which caused the screen to reset.
Changed the "HOTEL" to 01 but it's the same. No setting on regular menu....

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
I did it!
My screen looks better now.
The only thing I did wrong is that I accidentally set the "INITIAL" service mode setting but all good now. One setting I cannot bring back is when the tv is manually switched on I can just plug in the power cord and it will be on. Now when I plug in the power cord I would need to use the remote control to turn it on. Anyone knows what the service setting code for it?
Thank you all guys! Next move is to replace the caps. But I...

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
Under service menu mode I can adjust settings like vertical height, horizontal pos, vertical pos, etc..but I'd like a picture guide for it. Is a 640x480 test image pattern be fine?

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
No, the whole picture is tilted. Maybe because of the angle I took the picture. Top and bottom right corners are pulled up while the top & bottom left corners are pulled down....

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
What is leakage resistance? How do you check for it? I'm assuming I need a special tool for this like an ESR Meter or something?
What are the tools I need to properly check a bad capacitor?
Yes I tried the service menu mode and couldn't find any tilt settings. I did not notice or mind the tilt issue when I bought it new maybe 3 years ago because it was just for watching local channels but I'm not surprised if it's tilted like this from the start.
I did exactly that way...Last edited by korotoyo; 01-31-2017, 06:51 PM.

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
How can I do this? When you say "deflection coils block", do you mean the yoke?
I loosen the screw on the clamp and I tried to rotate the yoke but it won't move. Probably because of the white adhesive between the yoke and the black padding on the tube. I'm not sure how to proceed....

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
Ok but I'm not sure what to buy. What are those printed on the little blue capacitor that I removed mean? "0.033j 100". The ones I know are caps with something like "10v 220uf"....

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
One more thing, as you can see from the 1st picture, tv screen is a little tilted. I tried the service mode menu but I'm not sure which of those settings to adjust if it's even possible. I read somewhere that you can set it by rotating the yoke. I'm not so sure how to do it though. Is this easy to do?

It's from the vertical output section of a CRT TV Changhong 14A01PH....

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
Thank you for this! It looks like it. According to the schematic the R313 resistor I suspected is 1k ohm. The capacitor I removed at C310 which is causing the white lines at the bottom of the screen has a two line label. First line reads "0.033J" & second line reads "100". Schematic says it's "100V0.22u".
TV is working perfectly fine now even without the C310 capacitor. Should I replace it or just leave it that way?
How do you check the chassis no. anyway? I...

Sorry for the title of this post I forgot to add the tv model.

Re: Not sure of the resistor value of this
That's the problem I can't find any schematics for this tv. It's a Changhong 14A01PH crt tv.
It looks like it's a 5 band resistor in which online resistor checker tells me it's 1k 5%. But can also be a four band resistor, 10 ohm?...

Not sure of the resistor value of this
Im trying to fix a 14 inch CRT tv with few flickering white horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen. These flickering lines gradually disappear when using the tv for maybe 5 minutes or more. They only appear when I turn on the tv after being unused for maybe 30 minutes or more.
I read somewhere that it's related to the vertical ic section especially the capacitor. Upon checking I suspected a capacitor and a resistor. I started with the capacitor by desoldering one leg and lifted it. I wasn't really sure but I tried turning on the tv after a 30 minutes rest and was surprised...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi to all!
Im gio from the Philippines and I love to tinker with electronics for hobby and would like to learn some more.
I actually started learning by assembling an Apple 1 replica. It was really a challenge to get the parts and make it work. I did make it work eventually. Thank god!
Right now i want to try to fix a CRT TV so I can play my Nintendo Famicom. So I hope you can help me. Looking forward.
