Symptoms: Sub works, but produces a constant low level hum/buzz.

Troubleshooting: The amp uses CapXon capacitors, the first (and only) troubleshooting step was pulling the caps (other than the large power supply caps and non-polar caps) and testing with an AVR transistor tester (upgraded with a precision voltage reference and 0.1% reference resistors):

Thanks for the write-up! I came across what seems to be an older revision of this sub, labeled as Infinity Infinitesimal Servo Controlled Subwoofer (no model indicator like SSW-10). R2 and R3 were burnt enough to flake off the paint and leave just the bare metal body of the resistors - yet amazingly they still measured around 430ohm.

A bad +/- 16v rail was the symptom here as well - the voltage drop across R2 and R3 was around 25v instead of the expected 11-14v. Removed the 5-wire ribbon cable leading to the pre-amp board...

I came across an LN40A550 that failed to power on and only showed a blinking red light. The power supply capacitors had been previously replaced and measured fine out of circuit for capacitance, ESR, and Vloss as seen by an [URL="https://www.ebay.com/itm/2018-NEW-Transistor-Tester-LCR-Diode-Capacitance-ESR-meter-Signal-Generator-Mos/122678094872"]AVR transistor tester[/URL].

On the main board, the bottom side C102 capacitor showed correct capacitance near 47uF but ESR was bad at 0.72 ohms - according...

Symptoms: Sub powers on and has good power rail voltages and +/- 15v rails, but does not output sound.

Troubleshooting: The area around IC104 (a 7815 voltage regulator) on the amp board shows signs of heating (burnt PCB) but the regulator itself seems to check out. This was a good opportunity to test out a newly delivered [URL="https://www.ebay.com/itm/2018-NEW-Transistor-Tester-LCR-Diode-Capacitance-ESR-meter-Signal-Generator-Mos/122678094872"]AVR transistor tester[/URL] - the capacitance and ESR testing showed that nearly all of the Jamicon electrolytic caps on the amplifier...
