  • Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power

I have the same symptoms as Sparrow-- but even after reading all the material here, no luck understanding. Power supply board appears to be good. later posts mention the heat gun solution, might try that next.

I"m an electrical engineer, but not a great technician.. workmanship issues.

bicycle's schematic is helpful, but my board might be slightly different, u601 is a NCP1203 for instance. An odd note- -D608 is missing, but so is the same diode on Sparrow's pictures. The schematic doesn't show CN702 which...

my 2408 failed, I've applied information shown here to debug it. Seemed like the voltages were OK, symptom was-- plug power cord in and the power LED might flash for 1/2 second, but then stayed off and would not power on. Probing today in the power supply, all seemed OK, voltages normal, then I look down and the green LED is on-- monitor is working. I'm thinking there's a cold solder joint! I'm going to let it run for awhile and see what happens. I guess if there's a repetition, I'll have to disassemble the supply and just reheat all the...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello, I'm a new member... Found the forum by google search for a particular problem. I'm an electrical engineer mostly retired with long experience in the test and measurement field, specifically telephone test equipment. retired but still doing a little consulting. Before telephony worked for NASA in Clear Lake in the early 70's.
I like fixing things and HATE throwing away repairable items.
