Re: Sony KD-55XG8796 No power
Nice story from my past.... About 30 years ago. A friend of mine had a cassette deck which was low on one channel. He couldn't figure it out. He had signal tracers and oscilloscopes on the job and he'd even replaced a transistor and the dolby IC on the bad channel but the fault remained. As soon as he let me hear it going, I wet my finger and wiped the play head. Fault gone. He was pleased and angry at the same time lol....

Any thoughts on this one ?
This one hasn't arrived with me yet, so I only have this photo to go on.
I was thinking poorly seated left T-con ribbon but I'm not convinced that the fault is exactly 50/50 of the screen. It may not even have a separate T-con board.
It's a Toshiba, and I'm guessing 43". Sorry no model number as yet.
Any thoughts ?...

Re: Cello C55ANSMT-4K CURVE V2
Hi all. This is interesting. I have the same board. Also stuck in standby. The 40" 4K non curve. Model C40ANSMT-4K. Screen is LSC400FN07-W. I don't suppose anyone would have the U4 and U25 dumps for this pile of crap ? Many thanks in advance.

Re: Sony KDL 40v5810 - No picture, no backlight, no sound; relay clicks, green LED
Hi. Two years later this thread just helped me out. Just for reference, The files and method above brought a KDL32W5810 back to life. Same fault. Solid green LED and nothing else. I picked the set up for a tenner and thought what the hell. If it updates with the wrong panel info I've not lost much. Big smile when it restarted with initial setup screen. Thanks muchly to all concerned.

Re: sound, no picture after varying periods, Vestel 17IPS20, 17MB100
Hi. Seven months later I know, but just wanted to add a note. I just had a Panasonic TX55CX400B with the same symptoms. It would run happily for hours on Standard definition channels from it's own tuner. As soon as you try to display HD or 4K the backlight would go out. Restarting the set would bring it back on. Processor trouble I guess. BL on signal was disappearing. I tried a quick reflow just for fun but to no avail. Replacement 17MB100 did the trick.

Re: HITACHI 32HXC01U - No backlight - Vestal 17IPS19-5 V.1 061112
Metered them individually. One shorted and one Open circuit. Lit the rest of them individually with 5v supply and resistor. Now I'm trying to find a source for suitable replacements.
Any idea of the specs ? They look like 7000k or higher in colour by the look of themLast edited by brianbelfast; 09-13-2015, 09:16 AM.

Re: HITACHI 32HXC01U - No backlight - Vestal 17IPS19-5 V.1 061112
Did you ever sort this one out ? Did it turn out to be the leds as you said ? I've one just arrived with the same problem. Supply to the leds fires up for a split second to around 80v when you bring it out of standby but slowly falls gradually again. Picture can be seen on the screen. Just no backlight.

Re: Sigh, another dead VESTEL 17PW25-4
Update - As luck would have it I came across a 32" Technika screen smash at my local recycling centre just yesterday. Absolutely soaking wet with rain but it had a perfectly working 17pw26-4 so I'm sorted out. The Tosh is back up and running.
However I'd still like to master these 25-4 atrocities. I don't like to be beaten.

Re: Sigh, another dead VESTEL 17PW25-4
Oh this is way more than ripple. Serious spiky noise. Way more than 1v peak to peak. I'll have another look at it later today and be more exact. Maybe take a photo of the scope reading for you. I'm not familiar with this psi so I am a bit lost, But if two of them have come in with the same fault in as many weeks it's about time I got to grips with them. Thanks for getting back.

Re: Sigh, another dead VESTEL 17PW25-4
I'm fighting with one of these at the moment. (17pw25-4) It's in a 32" vestel disguised as a Toshiba. All the supply lines are present and near enough correct according to the voltmeter but when you look at them on the scope they are noisy and spiky as hell so the set won't fire up. Just a flashing standby light. There is a lot of noise (the type you can hear) coming from in and around t900. Last time I had this problem I was lucky enough to have a 17pw26 on the shelf but I'm no so lucky this time. I've done the usual diode checks and...

Re: logic lcxw37hd1
OK it turns out that this is actually an AMOI LC37T1E in disguise. To enter service menu you hold down the menu button on the remote and switch the set on. Problem is, for me anyway, that factory reset initialises the main board in the set but not the freeview board which is separate. So I am no further on. I give up. Freeview board is 12 quid on ebay.
