  • Sony KDL-55W800A forcing software update?

    Hi guys,

    I have had a failure on the TV, and as such had to replace the mainboard. In every service / training manual I have looked at, it states that a software update is required when replacing either the mainboard, T-Con or LCD panel.

    I have downloaded the latest firmware from the Sony website, ver PKG4.600GAA for the Australian region, but I don't know how to update the software as the TV won't turn on (the amber / green status LED flashes alternately, indicating a Panel ID issue)

    Does anyone know a way that I can force the software update onto...

  • Sony KDL-55W800A green / amber status flash

    Hi guys,

    I'm a newbie to all this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated...

    My initial problem was I had the red light blinking three times, after all checks in the service manual, proceeded to replace the BA2S (main)board as it was the most likely cause, now after powering on the TV, the green and amber status LEDs flash on an oscillating basis...

    I have downloaded the latest firmware from the Sony website, formatted a USB stick to FAT32 and copied to the root folder of the USB. The TV when powering up reads the USB drive and flashes a couple...

    Sorry to dig up an old thread...

    I have the same problem on my KDL-55W800A.
