  • DELL 2005FPW SMD caps

I am replacing the caps on a DELL 2005FPW monitor.
The main (video?)(inverter?) board has 4 SMD electrolytic capacitors.

3 have the same markings, “45126 47 16f” and the service manual has a parts list with this entry “47UF MVK 16V 20% R/TP(SMD) S” for all 3.

    The other cap has markings “5m 3.3 50v” and parts list entry “3.3UF MV 50V 20% R/TP(SMD) S”.

Is there any way to know the manufacturer?
I'm guessing the “MVK” & “MV” are series markings. I found NCC datasheets for MVK-BP & MV-BP. I didn't find any other...

  • parts list spec and installed cap not the same

I'm selecting replacement caps for a Dell model 2005fpw monitor. The main board has caps from ELNA, Samyoung & Samwha. The service manual parts list also includes board location. The parts list shows location c655 as "100UF KMG,RD 16V 20% FM2.5 T". I'm guessing that's a Samyoung KMG or a Samwha RD. Here's the odd thing—the installed cap is a Samwha RD 220uF 16v. I don't believe the monitor has ever been serviced but, not 100% sure

Could this be a production line mistake, post production revision or maybe a re-worked warranty repair, which was resold as new? AND,...

I just found a Samwha RG series datasheet if you are interisted. • Re: what to do if a cap is not listed on its datasheet

"Custom size"! That I would not have guessed.

Looking at the datasheet, do you think it is reasonable to to guess at a approximation for my mystery custom cap? I would guess 66mA of ripple. I ask because I want to know if my reasoning is valid.

By "GP" I assume that's "General Purpose"?
I know where it is but not what it does. I don't have the knowledge yet to make a guess. The main board in a monitor (this monitor) looks like a video card. I imagine it is a computers...

  • what to do if a cap is not listed on its datasheet

I have a Dell 2005fpw monitor that i'm replacing the caps on the main board.
It has at least 1 Samwha cap 22uF 25v RD series that does not have an entry in the ripple current table. Datasheet attached. Looks like it's a 5x12mm.

Why might a cap be missing from the table?
What do I do for a ripple current value?

    thanks...

  • Re: Samyoung LXZ, KME & KMF datasheets

I just realized the JH cap is ripple=650 and ESR=3. I assume that is 3 ohms.
The datasheet for the Rubycon 1189-1386-ND does not list ESR but has a "Low Temperature Stability Impedance Ratio(MAX)" of 6.

    Is that 6 ohms?

I'm not finding a definition to "Low Temperature Stability Impedance Ratio(MAX)".

Is that the same as impedance? Or, does the "Ratio(Max)" imply a formula?
If it is 6 ohms of impedance and we use that for ESR, is this still an appropriate...

    Thank You mockingbird.
I'm guessing that this is one of the times you can use impedance and ESR interchangeably.
But how did you know where to look? Is this something you get to know over time or did I miss something in how I'm searching for replacements?

    thanks again

  • Re: Samyoung LXZ, KME & KMF datasheets

I'm also having problems finding a replacement for a
    (JH) [Jianghai] cap BK series
    100uF 450v 18x36
the datasheet says ripple 650 & ESR of 3.

The only one I've found is a UCC from Digikey where I would have to buy 200 of them. Digikey part # ESMH451VNN101MP35T-ND

Is this an unusual cap or something?
Could be replaced with something with different specs?
I think there is room for a 25x48.

  • Re: Samyoung LXZ, KME & KMF datasheets

    Thanks for your help.

    It's a Samsung p2350 23" Monitor

I'm currently working on the Power Supply
It has these markings and labels

    Printed
    ITE Power Supply
    LEVEL 3
    LR76377

    White paper label
    MD54PWI2304SL (a)03393

Printed [this is the model # i used to find it on line with pix]
    model PWI2304SL (c) rev 1.0

I found these 2 links with pictures

  • Re: Samyoung LXZ, KME & KMF datasheets

Thank you. The explanations are most useful. Knowing the “why” of it helps a lot.
This has been quite an arduous adventure. I’m into my 5 week of trying to order these caps. There is a lot more to replacement cap selection then I imagined, a LOT more. I am overwhelmed with information.

You are right the 450v 150uF cap is 20x45 I read my scale wrong. The part you recommended EKXG451ELL151MM45S is sold in quantities of 250 only. I found a Rubycon 1189-3226-ND on digikey that physically fits.
    As...

  • Re: Samyoung LXZ, KME & KMF datasheets

    OK, thanks
I still have 2 problem caps.

    A Samyoung LXZ cap 25v 820uF size=10x20
    In NCC's LXZ datasheet there isn't a 10x20 size
    the closeist is 25v 820uF size=10x25 imp=0.045@20c & 0.090@-10c ripple=1,440

    The Samyoung NXP(LAZ) datasheet
    Has 25v 820uF size=10x20 imp=0.052@20c & 0.10@-10c ripple=1320
What ripple current should I use?

    for a Samyoung cap 450v 150uF size=10x45 w/ case markings 0546 (M)105c
the NCC KMF series datasheet does...

  • Samyoung LXZ, KME & KMF datasheets

Does any know of a source for SamYoung datasheets for series KMF, KME & LXZ?
I've looked in the databases I found in forum posts and google searches.
I have these datasheets NXP(LXZ), NHA(KME) & NZE(KMF), are they ok to use?

    thanks

Excellent link, found it very useful in interpreting ESR meter readings.

In the Youtube videos description there is another link to the design of the ESR meter used and more useful info in calculating ESR and interpreting results. It filled in some of the gaps in my understanding of the whole ESR issue....

  • Can a monitor PS be tested stand alone

I'm working on 2 monitor power supplys and am wondering if I can test the +5v & +12v with just the AC power cord pluged in. That is, all other connectors un-pluged (main board, lamps, etc)? I'm a first timer, thus the question.

BTW this is a great forum. i'v learned a lot from the posts i'v read this week.
    Thank you all.

  • how likely is it for a PCB to have solder bridges and still work

I.m trouble shooting my first PCB, a power supply for a Samsung p2350 monitor, and
I have found what look like at least 2 solder bridges from the factory. I also see 2 of what I’ll call solder drags. Teardrop shaped solder gobs that point in the same direction. They look like something that might happen when the board went through the solder bath (wave I think). The top of the board has a large arrow and the word “Solder” silk-screened on it also pointing in the same direction. The board also has many lines of solder that look like they are intended to be there. These lines...

    Happy New Year to all,

I’m a new member and new to electronics so please be gentle.

I’ve been in computing in one way or another for 36 years. Recently developed an interest in designing and building my own special purpose devices and, thought I should learn how first.
