Re: VIZIO VO47L FHDTV10A - Voltage Regulator Input
Thank you, I am embarrassed to say that I think that I shorted it out when I was taking the readings. There was a spark when I accidentally touched pin 2 to pin 1 or 3, after that I was getting the 0V on all of the pins.
It's pretty much easy for me to replace the boards (after troubleshooting) but I am trying to learn more and advance to replacing the components on the PCB's. Hopefully it will be more cost effective. Luckily for this project, I have another of the same board to practice on before...

Re: VIZIO VO47L FHDTV10A - Voltage Regulator Input
Here's another photo of the U11 on a Vizio 0420e, it's right above the 0171-2271-3060 number:

Re: VIZIO VO47L FHDTV10A - Voltage Regulator Input
My apologies for not posting a photo. Mine is at U11 and the tab seems to be secured by a heat sink compound, Here is the photo :

Re: VIZIO VO47L FHDTV10A - Voltage Regulator Input
Thanks. I was using a thin tip with 60 watts but no flux and solder. It wasn't doing a damn thing!!! I looked up Youtube video after Youtube video and couldn't find someone taking these things out. The tab looks like it's held on with heatsink compound instead of solder, so it confused me. I will use your technique tomorrow morning and report back. Thanks again.Re: VIZIO VO47L FHDTV10A - Voltage Regulator Input

Re: VIZIO VO47L FHDTV10A - Voltage Regulator Input
I'm sorry that I am resurrecting an old thread but this thread came up when I used the search engine to try to solve my problem. I am having the same exact problem as the poster above. It's the same voltage regulator and so far I am having no luck being able to remove the tab that is attached to the PCB. It seems to be secured by heat sink compound.
Is there a proper technique to remove this tab from the PCB? Thanks!...

Re: Vizio VO420E Main Board
I received the EEPROM kit and the donor board. It doesn't look like the vendor put that paint mark on their for pin one on the U18 EEPROM. I took pictures to show what I am talking about.

Any ideas on how to figure where the pin one is on the new eeprom?
When I plugged the "new" main board in to see what it would do, it self tested and showed that I had back-light but I couldn't turn it of when I pushed the power button. Now it does the amber...

Re: Vizio VO420E Main Board
I want to thank you for the information regarding the "paint marks". Is the standard practice to mark those EEPROMS with paint?
Is this basically using a magnifying glass and matching the part numbers and replacing them? I'm going to practice de-soldering and then soldering these (original) components on the main board I already have. I had to order another main board because the previous owner broke a clip to one of the T-con connections....

Thank you! After you said that, it made a lot of sense. It seems that they are both by the HDMI inputs?...

Vizio VO420E Main Board
I ordered the Eeprom repair kit and I am wondering if anyone knows the Eeprom locations and can tell me which one to replace. The symptoms are:
amber standby light
white logo light after I turn on power
No picture, no sound and can turn the power off.
I already replaced the power board and nothing changed.
Here is the information for the board:
Vizio:
3642-0732-0150 (OB)
Sadly, my board seems to be kind of rare to obtain for a working replacement, so I ordered the kit to replace the EEPROM. Does anyone here...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, I am new to this field and really like it. I was always messing around with electronics when I was a kid but life and other interests took over. I got back into it out of necessity when I repaired a couple of LCD TV and a few computers out of luck (and some research). Now I caught the bug and want to learn more and more. I have browsed here for a long time and now I want to ask questions and participate. This is an excellent forum.
