Re: Apple Macbook pro 17" - 820-2914-A
I can hold on for a few days but definetly I'll have to buy it unless someone wants to share it. I already have the schematics though, thanks. Any advice on where to buy ?

Apple Macbook pro 17" - 820-2914-A
Nice and big machine, from the conditions I have a feeling has been used _very_ much. It boots and apparently runs, but no chime sound and no image on screen. Anyone knows where I should concentrate to start with ?
I couldn't find any board view file around and I guess it's pretty rare..anyone ? Thanks for help

Re: 13" faulty macbook led screen
It was on a machine I bought for spares, luckily not paid that much. I've tried a couple of times to put my hands on faulty panels just for curiosity and understanding how they work. Unfortunately I managed only once to get some better outcome than the initial damage. I hoped in this case there was some smd component that could be replaced.
Thanks for help anyway !

13" faulty macbook led screen
I've received a faulty led panel. It shows some darker areas on the bottom part, fan shaped, less than an inch tall. Apart from that the image shows nicely, colours are fine, no dead pixels as far as I can see. I noticed from the panel comes a pesky whizzy sound too. Two faults in such a small screed are unacceptable but I was wondering whether it may be a not too complicated fix somehow. Any insight ? Thank you !

Re: Openflex Boardview: New boardview software (linux, windows and OSX)
Yes, the behaviour is the same irrespectively, in background or minimized doesn't make any difference
No, Cpu is not an issue whatsoever. It's impossible to tell OBV is open unless one searches for it. It's beautifully lightweight on Cpu and memory under any circumstance.
That's why it took me some time to convince me there was something to troubleshoot somewhere around. When I remembered I could check the activity monitor I discovered that OBV requires...

Re: Lcd killing Macbook logic boards ?
Just checked the first 820-2850-A and the backlight fuse is gone for good, as you suggested and will probably see the same on the others.
Any insight on what could have happened and how to avoid repeating such stupid mistake ?

Re: Lcd killing Macbook logic boards ?
Sure, I realized I forgot necessary details, sorry..
The suspect panel comes from a 820-2533-A
All boards belong to A1286 family, 15" macbook pro:
820-2533-A C2D
820-2850-A i7dual

Lcd killing Macbook logic boards ?
Hard to believe, but I have no other logical explanation. I've been swapping lcds with different boards for ever with no major issue, but lately it seems like an epidemic..I've piled up 3 boards with backlight problems that didn't have any problem as such when they came in, only thing in common is that they've been used in a similar way.
Anyone has experienced anything like that ? Is it possible something in the monitor triggers some short and kills some component ?
All boards now show the no backlight behaviour, image is seen only when pointing a light. Any help ? Thanks in adv...

Re: Openflex Boardview: New boardview software (linux, windows and OSX)
What a beauty, wonderful software you created..can say goodbye to T-link eventually, thank you so much and congratulations.
Running it on a MBP a1297, os 10.11.6, seems to be running smooth and nicely. If I get across any misbehaviour or bug I'll be happy to report it.
Thanks again !!

Re: Anyone have ERSA Product Experience?
I recently bought an Ersa i-Con Nano, after having thrown away money on a pretty disappointing Aoyue. I'm no expert, but it's a great small soldering machine, temperature is reached in no time, iron is very light and handy, everything gives the feeling of having been built well and with care. So far I'm very happy with my purchase.
