Re: Packard Bell P7YE0 Diode request
Hi, I believe the diode to be shorted. The person who's laptop it was replaced a keyboard and didn't pay attention to the connector the pwr button came out of. the fitted it upside down in the correct one (This has been confirmed) and shorted the diode. I can see the markings on the diode but haven't anything like it. Would it be OK to just remove it as sometimes is the case in certain circuits. I attach more photos.
Thank you
PS the diode is on the end of the smaller sub board...

Re: Lenovo G580 LA-7981P
I do have a few spare screens and they are the same, also this is a replacement cable as original was damaged. Is this flashing a symptom of a damaged cable? Testing continuity of cable and it appears that pin 1 doesn't match to pin 1 on other end neither pin 2 etc etc
Is there a diagram of cable pin mapping available

Re: Lenovo G580 LA-7981P
I really appreciate the help you are giving me. I have attached a document with all the readings on with screen attached, as stated on the document the screen was continually going on and off and readings were taken in both states. Some of the readings couldn't be noted down as the fluctuation was very quick....

Lenovo G580 LA-7981P
I am currently repairing a motherboard LA-7981P in a Lenovo G580. The problem i have is there is no graphics on the screen, there is light, just the normal light, not bright light like when the connectors isnt in properly. I get external graphics and laptop works normally on HDMI monitor. I have a schematic for this model and have checked the pins on LDVS connector. I have attached the page from the schematic i believe is relevant to this and a clip of the diagram where i believe i have the problem. I have voltages where they should be present apart from pin 26, this is dead, not sure what other...

Toshiba R50 B 123 Fuses
Hi, just been given a Toshiba R50 B 123 that had water spilled on it. I have cleaned it up and all appeared OK apart from the keyboard (Cheap fix i thought) However although the laptop works it doesn't charge or run from mains. Runs perfectly from battery until it runs down. My question is could anybody help me with this issue. Is it just a fuse? if so could someone help me locate it, if not what other options are left. I have added pictures of the board.
Thanks in advance...

Samsung NP350V5C BIOS Chip
Hi i would like some help in locating the bios chip on the above motherboard.
I was adjusting the BIOS on the laptop to boot from external device during a boot failure troubleshooting session when after shutting down the laptop the screen no longer lights up. From what i have learned this could be that the BIOS corrupted during this process. For a belt and braces job i bought a programmed BIOS chip off eBay. What i received was two bios chips one 16bit and one 32bit, i have contacted the seller but as of today i have not received any help this i believe will only be temporary, in the mean...

Re: Lenovo G70 Screen backlight
Hi, i have done some research and had help from another forum member. I have discovered that the capacitor (C15) is giving out a reading of 560 on the 2K scale on my multimeter. Occasionally it gives out 480, but very rarely. Could i ask what is the capacitors supposed value and if not correct where would i find a replacement.
Thanks again....

Re: Lenovo G70 Screen backlight
I have thoroughly cleaned the board with isopropyl alcohol.
Hi i have checked as best i know how. I have power to both sides of R17 and continuity. I also have power to the top side of C15 Yellow arrow but none at the black arrow side or continuity. Does this help at all. PS what do you mean by remove and check C15, i can remove but what am i checking for? Thanks again for your help.

Re: Lenovo G70 Screen backlight
Thank you. As i am a complete novice and cant read the drawing you provided, i wondered from the information i have given in my original request whether you could offer identification of the parts in the photo and what reading they should have if they were working correctly. I hoped the fact that the brightness worked in reverse prior to cleaning may give a qualified person a clue.
Regards Dave...

Re: Lenovo G70 Screen backlight
Thanks for the quick reply, have tested and there is continuity? Cant be that that's the problem. I was thinking it was the one next to the arrow as this doesn't have continuity. Have you any iseas what may be causing the issue?
