Re: Smc update
Hey Luigi. Sorry to piss in your Corn Flakes, but you will definitely not be able to change the SMC firmware on your 2009 Mac Pro processor board or on your mainboard. 2009 models have 1.39f5 on both the mainboard and on the processor board while 2010-2012 models have version 1.39f11. I have scoured the web on this subject and it seems that, short of replacing the SMC chip (with its 144 solder points) these firmware versions are immutable (to quote the implacable Tsialex). Worse yet, despite what some wankers have said without actually trying it out, Mac's Fan Control...

Re: 3007wfp screen flicker after warmup
Hi Hahometp. I too have had success in repairing a Sharp 70-inch 3D TV using this method. I now have a Dell 30-inch 3007WFPHC display that is intermittently doing the shake, shimmy and flicker that you describe. I would like to attempt the same repair you have made. While I haven't cracked the monitor open yet, I assume that these IC's are present on both sides of the screen. My question is: How do you know which side to cut the IC's from? I would really hate to butcher the wrong side. Thanks in advance.

Re: Sharp Aqous 70LE650U vertical lines
Hi there. I am trying to learn so please bear with me. So, just "peeling off" the driver tabs will not work like it did with budwich's legendary fix? (See "Sharp LC-70LE757U Flashing 2-5 :-( can it be saved economically?" thread.)...

Re: Sharp LC-70LE757U Flashing 2-5 :-( can it be saved economically?
This is meant to be a follow-up to my messages of December 2016. At that time, I had stumbled onto this site after I had found a Sharp LC-70LE757U that appeared dead. It was throwing a 2.5 code. After some tinkering around, I removed the tab drivers from one side of the screen and that seemed to cure the set. Well it has been nine months and this tv gets 4 or 5 hours use a day, every day. It is still running fine. This has worked so well that I got hold of a similar 60 inch model (LC-60EQ10U) that had a somewhat...

Re: Physically broken LCD TV panel?
Thanks to all who replied. I haven't physically seen the tv yet but I could get it for cheap and wanted to know if it was possible that it was the fabled driver tab problem that afflicts so many of the giant Sharps and that is often rather trivial to fix. Not this time, I guess.

Physically broken LCD TV panel?
Does the attached photo necessarily indicate a physically "cracked" LCD panel where the liquid crystal substance has actually "leaked" or can there be an electronic reason for the large black areas on the screen. The TV model is a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE650U, 80-inch LCD....

Re: Sharp LC-70LE757U Flashing 2-5 :-( can it be saved economically?
Well, after much re-reading of this thread and of similar threads on this site, I took the plunge. I left the TV in its upright position on its pedestal base. I removed the 7 or so screws from the side bezel along with the screws along the top bezel. This allowed the top bezel strip to come off which, in turn, freed up the side bezel. At this point, I had to be careful because the outermost layer of the entire screen wanted to flip down. I put one screw back in along the top bezel to keep it from doing that. Then...

Re: Sharp LC-70LE757U Flashing 2-5 :-( can it be saved economically?
Wow! I just stumbled upon this thread following an online search. I read the entire thread and, fumbling along, I have hit what I consider to be 90% paydirt. Here's the story (which sounds a lot like those of other participants to this thread). I have a Sharp Aquos LC-70UQ17U which I picked up yesterday on a lark. The previous owner reported that the thing had gone dead. He had done some Internet sleuthing and had replaced the power supply. Much to his surprise, that did not fix the problem. He was giving it away...
