Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Alright ran thru the troubleshooting guide for the DC-DC converter diagram.
J1 Pin 10,11,12,13,14 all have 5V on them.
next step
J1 pin 1,2 do not have +12 while power switch is on/pressed.
-Connection of J1 is good
- J1 pin 17 does not have 3.3v even when power button is pressed.
-Says check power board - we know its not getting the >2v signal to turn on nor outputting 12V when forced to turn on via resistor.
- Check F4 - I have and its good via ohms (no...

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
I have poked around for an hour now and havent found a deffinate 3.3v regulator yet. Have found 5v and 3.3 in many locations but no "smoking gun" yet...
Theres also no 3.3v signal or any signal of any kind going back to the PSU. I'm wondering if when the psu died it sent voltage out on that signal line and fried whatever sends it or vice versa......

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Alright I'll probe the other wires between the 12V and 5v pins to see if one of those happens to have 3.3V. That F11 fuse is way on the lower right corner of the board - exact opposite of the PSU connector.

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
SO you want the resistor from gnd to the PS-ON pin correct?
Just tried that, still have my +5 but no 12 and no 18.

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Correct, I have 5.135 on the +5v pins, 2.989V on the PS-ON pin with the 1K resistor connected, zero volts on either of the 12V pins and zero volts on the 18V pins.

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Took the green control board out and found no more fuses on the backside...
Also took the tan PSU board off and saw no more fuses on it..
Also studying the control board and backtracing the input tab, I see there are large clumps of tracing separated by these little greenish grey rectangular cubes labeled L(xx) where XX is any number between 4-98+. ohm meter shows they are all .02-.01 ohms across them.Last edited by TVGuy45; 12-02-2016, 02:23 PM.

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Correct, there are 3 little white 5A fuses in the upper left corner, top one shows no voltage on either side,
2nd down shows 5.135 on both sides
3rd down shows 5.135 on both sides.
I did find 3 more tiny fuses with letters printed on them:
F6: K has .004VDC on both sides
F12: K has 5.132 on both sides
F11: G has 3.346 on both sides
That F6 reading corresponds to letter A voltage regulator voltage input...
I may take the board out again and investigate...

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Alright measured and using the pic below here is what I got:
A:
IN: .004 VDC
OUT: .454 VDC
ADJ: .283 VDC
B:
.079
.000
.000
C:
.004
.016
.008
D:
.000
.056
.035
I would assume some of those should have the +5V on the input correct? Even when the orange light is solid? (which I am assuming is standby mode) Pressing the power button while measuring did nothing. All measurements...

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Ive checked the 3 fuses, none are blown 2 have 5V on them and one has none (supposed to be 12v) Ill check the regulators but I thought I had to have 12v signal to check those?
Ill check them and report back what I find regardless.

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Alright so tested for > 2v on PS-ON with everything hooked back up with no voltage on it...
Plugged everything back into the psu, pluged the 120v in, put meter probes on ground screw and PS-ON pin and pressed power button - no voltage. I still have my +5 on all 5 pins, no +12, and no >2 or any voltage on PS-ON...

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Its at work so I will have to verify the > 2v in the AM.
I assume that voltage that is greater than 2 is generated by the 5V that I know works? Then that signal back is what tells the 12V to kick on correct?

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Yup that be it, looks the same and p/n tag matches (0500-0407-0910)
By linking a place to buy are you suggesting to just buy a new board? :P
Is the 1Kohm resistor test above a proven way to see if the power board died for sure? Dont wanna waste money.Last edited by TVGuy45; 12-01-2016, 03:57 PM.

Re: Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Alright tried it- aligator clip from +5 to 1K resistor, other side of 1k resistor to ps-on with zero volts measured at +12.
So its isolated to the power board then...Last edited by TVGuy45; 12-01-2016, 02:46 PM.

Vizio SV422XVT - constant orange light
Hello all, ive read what I could about this tv and have ran into a wall.
Plug it in orange vizio light comes on
press power button nothing happens - stays constant orange - no blinking white or anything.
Ive checked the 3 fuses on the green main control board (where power button is soldered and all the inputs/outputs) they are not blown. Top one has zero volts to it, bottom 2 have 5.013V on them.
I am missing my +12v
Ive read the thing about checking the voltage regulators and watched youtube videos but theirs blinks white...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
hello everyone, first time joining but ive ran across the site many times over the years and have found some useful info! Ive repaired a few TV's and lots of computer monitors so i have a crude idea of what im doing...
Ill make a post about my current problem in the proper area.
Thanks!
