unfortunately no. the reciever/stereo has a digital optical out port as does my tv, just no input for some reason. kind of strange for an audio system in my opinion

i was wondering if anyone has any experience with digital audio ports, specifically optical audio ports, or maybe someone can point me in the right direction. i am looking for a way to add an input to my current system, or possibly find a way to convert an output port into an input.

Hello everyone. i have a bit of a project on my hands here and I can use all the help I can get. The Samsung that I have has a broken screen but everything else works fine, found it on a tree lawn, hehe. The Westinghouse which still works just fine and has been with me for the better part of a decade. My goal here is to find a way to successfully convert the Westinghouse into a smart tv with the guts of the Samsung. I don't have as much background as most of you. I am simply a diversly skilled individual with a major thirst for knowledge and an insatiable desire to fix/create/modify just about anything, especially electronics. Alas, I am but a novice and could use some mentoring. Any takers? Lol
