  • Re: Vizio VO47LFHDTV10A burnt spot on PSU, replace or try to fix?

The replacement master inverter resolved the problem. The caps look good on the replacement and the picture is nice now. If anyone wants to challenge themselves to replace the blown IC on the failed master, let me know. They're selling for $15-30 on ebay. I also have an extra good slave inverter for this TV, with the shorter inverters, not the long ones.
Merry Christmas and thank you for the help.

Thanks Bud. I have the 24 volts and the 'on' voltage is 3.5v at the inverter connector from the power board. There is the same voltage at both ends of the fuse and no resistance. Due to the scorched IC on the master inverter, I ordered 2 used inverters(same inverter model nos.) from ebay and will give that a shot. Replacing the TV is going to cost me about 7-800, so 30$ is OK for determination. The power board was scorched at the coils and I replaced the cap that had popped next to it. I replaced the 4 caps on the...

Hi, I'm Dave from New Hampshire. I have a sick Vizio TV that has an inverter problem. I'm just trained in HS electronics shop class and have worked wonders with a soldering iron and some research. I appreciate the help and info on this forum. My nightmare is in post706713. Thanks for the help!

I changed out the 4 popped caps on the inverters and the 1 bad cap next to the burnt coil on the power board. Still no backlight. I had good 24 volts into the inverters before the cap repair and still have 24v to the inverters now. I got nothing coming out of the inverters. I have attached a pic of the Master inverter board. After I ordered the replacement caps, I noticed a little scorching on the IC that is between the caps and have attached a picture. How can I tell if the backlights are still good? I don't want...

I have the same problem, same model. I will be replacing the 5 popped caps. I have voltage to the inverters but, nothing going out of the pink wires that plug into what I believe are the backlights. Both inverters have same dead end. I re-soldered the coils, got the 24v to the inverters. Will post results after the parts arrive.
