This morning my Deer DR-250ATX W blew within 5 seconds of powerup; normal minimum loads, no prior issues- pffft & brown stinky cloud- surprise!

But here's a switch: Rubycon 16 v 2200 uF blew. Did a closeup of a fine crack at the top seam I didn't see at first.

In the background is the insulation just starting to peel back from the coil. I suspect it wasn't always like that. First time I opened it. '02 probably out of warrentee anyway.

Have found it useful over the years to ALWAYS photo document boards as well as diagram; just often enough being able to refer to a series of clear BEFORE pics from various angles will reveal some element that hadn't been covered in a diagram. Thanks to all for these excellent articles! (doing Abit VL6 project prep)
