Ok I typed the above in a panic to simplify the giberish,

If the PC is switched on before the monitor it stays black
for about 2 hours with a light hissing noise then I eventually
get the pc desktop picture.

The monitor must be turned on before the pc so that the pc
desktop image shows up on the monitor straight away as
normal.

Any ideas...

New here.

I don't have much experience with displays mainly PC's Laptops etc.

I have a HANNS-G HG24DPB with a strange problem.

1) I disconnect the vga from the monitor while pc is on, or pc is turned off before the monitor which causes a problem with the monitor.

If the above steps are carried out when I reconnect the vga while the monitor is on or I boot up the pc and then turn on the monitor it will take up to 2 hours for the display to show the vga pc image. During this time their is a light hissing noise a bit like caps...

Never tried installing W7 on an Asus X7151S but a quick check on the Asus Windows® 7 Compatible Products page does not show up this model. [U]Maybe[/U] not compatible with W7. See Asus compatibility link page below.
