• Samsung LE40B651 LCD Repair (No power, Singing, Lines on LCD)

HI all,
I have received some very helpful information from this forum in the past. As such, I wanted to give a short guide back on how I repaired my LE40B651 LCD. I still have an outstanding issues with a line of pixels on the LCD. I was also hoping that someone could offer some advice on this.

First off, I received the Samsung LE40B65 with the described issue of "Doesnt turn on".

When I took it home, I checked the fuse in the plug: There wasnt any. So I fitted a 5amp fuse. The TV still wouldnt turn on. I opened it up, and found that the...

• Re: Pioneer PDP-502MXE 50" 720p plasma Faulty PSU

Thanks for the response tom66! Im grateful for your help.
Sure enough, when I removed the three RCC Controller A, B & C boards and compared them against each other, I found some faults with board A. This happens to be the board that is connected to the gate of Q201, the original large MOSFET that blew taking the power resistor R134 with it.

On the RCC Controller A board I found that resistor R232 (2.2 ohm) was blown. There was a short between the base and emitter of Q208 (markings "D1835 S 0B",...

• Pioneer PDP-502MXE 50" 720p plasma Faulty PSU

Hi!

I recently picked up one of these TVs 2nd hand for next to nothing in the hope of repairing it. The described symptoms were a "clicking noise, but no power" when the TV was plugged in.

After getting the massive 50" TV home, I opened it up, and was delighted to see some very high-quality components inside compared to the other cheap and cheerful TV's that I have opened in the past. I had a read of tom66s thread here of the same TV with similar symptoms. He ended up repairing...

Thanks for the replies Th3_uN1Qu3 and vinceroger69. I will have a go with the superglue and the hot air gun in the day or so and tell you how I get on.

So, I opened it up to have a look with my fluke multimeter.

There were no visible scorching on any of the boards, or any bulging caps. I removed and reinserted each cable harness, seeing if there was any change when I powered up the TV at each stage (there wasnt). Looking at the PSU, and from its silkscreen markings on the board, the voltage outputs vs. my measured outputs are as follows:

5.2v: 5.12v measured
12v: 12.34v measured
16.5v: 16.54v measured
24v: 24.32v measured
PWM-DIM:...

I will attach a sequence of images showing progression of the display on the TV from when it is powered up. The display briefly flashes, then goes to black. Then a white image appears surrounded by black borders. Then the borders disappear and finally a bright white image is left indefinitely. There is also some colorful pixilation if the display is viewed close up (see close up image attached).

I also noticed that the issue is also intermittent. After I left the tv on for 30min yesterday, I unplugged it and plugged...

Thanks for the reply Th3_uN1Qu3. The proper picture doesnt actually appear at all (apologies for the bad wording in the original post), after the weird white/coloured picture appear with the black borders, the black borders then disappear leaving nothing. I will sit down some quiet evening so and open it up to see if there are any loose connections with the TCON board, check the caps and the voltages, and see of there are any cracked solder joints. I might even chance buying a replacement TCON board and mainboard on ebay if I cant...

Thanks for the reply t.j. Before I open it up, does it look like any common fault that you have seen before?

Hi!
I am after getting a faulty TV that im hoping to repair for myself.
The screen itself looks perfect.
It turns on but the problem seems to be something internal as it takes a few minutes for screen to come on to a load of colours and black border around the edges. However, these disappear after about 5-10 mins.

The model no: 42lg3000-za.aekdljg

I will attach an image of to explain myself better. I was wondering if anyone would have any idea of what could be wrong with it?...

• Re: Suggestions for repairing MLT666B PSU board for 32" Powerpoint LCD TV (Pics)

Thanks for the responses retiredcaps and ratdude747. I will message "goodbuy"7888 with the images and inform him. Farnell and Radionics would be the main electronic distributers here, but they require a minimum of 25 euro per order (about $30). At that money I could get a replacement PSU board off ebay (35 euro).

I will try and salvage suitable caps from some old items that I can find. However, as I mentioned earlier, even though the fake cap was stabilising the 24v line...

Thanks for the advice retiredcaps. I have taken photos of the three main batches of Caps that I bought. The reason I had to go with Ebay is because im in Ireland and so couldnt get them cheap from anywhere else that I could find. From first looks, it looks that maybe one of the batches may actually be fakes. The color of the label is more brown on navy than gold on navy compared to the other two batches. They have flat rubber for the bung, and a more common cross shape for the vent. However, im...

Thanks for the responses! @kc8adu, there are one or two small electrolytics before the secondary change. I will try and replace them so when I find some suitable ones. @ retiredcaps, these are the caps that I bought:

• Suggestions for repairing MLT666B PSU board for 32" Powerpoint LCD TV (Pics)

Hi!
I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice. My Powerpoint 32" LCD TV has given up the ghost. When turned on, after ~5sec the backlit attempts to power up. Instead it "fizzles" for about 1sec, then cuts out after a brief flash. Using a flashlight, an image can still be seen on the screen.

So the backlight isnt getting powered up. I opened up the TV and found a MLT666B power supply board. This was powering the backlight inverter circuit with 24v, according to the markings on the board (see pic). Measuring across this using a multimeter, i noticed that there...

• HP P2015dn Laser Printer SMPS repair (with Pics)

Hey Folks,

One day my HP P2015dn laser printer decided not to power up. No LCD would light up, no motors would turn, no response whatsoever. I didnt the standard stuff, check cables, fuses, etc. with no luck. I could find a service manual for the printer, but could not get a circuit diagram for the circuit board. Guessing it was the PSU SMPS part of the mainboard that was gone, I dismantled the device and took out the mainboard. Both fuses on the board were fine, and there were no signs of any components overheating. So I checked the diodes with a multimeter, all were fine, checked...
