So where do I clip mine? Thanks in advance!...

Re: Another vizio vx42l
Dropping additional solder was indeed what I did for heat mass(I'm surprised the chip still worked after the amount of heat and attempts it took with additional help from my micro flat blade)
I then used my solder braid to clean it up while lifting the chip slowly.... You are correct about the traces on the board.
One managed to lift, just didn't tear.
Decent picture like the vx32l taken down to put this one up. Now to figure out what to do with the good vx32l

Re: Another vizio vx42l
1) vx42l off ebay that had vertical lines moving around during warm-up/forever that changed to large bars/blocks... typical Vizio logo issue; no power off; nothing...etc.... similar to this : http://www.colombospace.com/Youtube/7PE4rRXxcpI
2) 1 hours disassembly/assy troubleshooting with my friends here on BADCAPS
3) 2 x to stop the shakes during replacing U33 since it was 2.06
u2 pin2 = 3.29
u7 pin2 = .98
u8 pin2 = 3.28
u9 pin2 = 1.16
u33 pin2 =...

Re: Dynex DX-LCD32 Power Board
Nice to see the thread aliveThanks all for your help! I've yet to get back to this board... There is another issue... D920 is blown and I need a replacement. I tried replacing just the R976 back then, pluggin it in and pOOOOF out D920 went along with the TEA1532(original one).... Anyone got a replacement part # suggestment? I do have the other parts and would love to get back to this project... It would also help get it out of my basement leaving room for other projects that have been planned :P

Re: Elo 1525L power board ptb-1218
swaped it from the other board... not bad. Nothing charred either, i couldnt get so lucky to see something so obvious. This thing has kicked my arse.

Re: Elo 1525L power board ptb-1218
Negative probe on C805 neg, Positive probe ion C807 reveals 13.2,13.4,14.1 as the chart reffers to as pulse? Urmmm... did the next step after looking up the ka3842a 8pin chip I801. I was checking pin 7 as pin 6, there is no pulse.

Re: Elo 1525L power board ptb-1218
Here is a flowchart troubleshoot that might make things easier for someone to help me
still unsure where I need that black probe set for ground when checking thse values.
and then troubleshooting the d806...

Re: Elo 1525L power board ptb-1218
Here is a schematic for easy following maybe this will someone better than me. I've check every resistor now..all check good
wish I could fire this thing. Shorting Q803 was bad orginally
So far I've replaced Q803, R811, R814
any pointers other than dig a hole are welcome :P
Not sure how to test D806. I have a replacement thats exact if it was proven failed...I'd have to remove it from another board....

Re: 1.2 ohm 1w resistor replacement
Since my meter likes to play (junk one for about 70.00) what would be a good one m8's'? The value of that .97ohm measured at 1.2 and my 1.8ohm measured at 2.2 ...thats .4-.5 off

Re: 1.2 ohm 1w resistor replacement
Where did I post that value of 0.12? I dont recall that one.
Well the topic isnt off topic... The topic was infact about a hard part. (Resistor to be specific) This post was for (before I was asked questions) was simply to find out rules about resistors when replacing with correct/not correct values/watages. If you dont know, thats ok. I still dont know either. It's perfectly clear I am a noob on that subject. Is there a better spot on this forum that I should be asking this question other than:...

Re: Elo 1525L power board ptb-1218
replaced the R811 on this thing. value checks at 1.2ohms and replaced the R814 with 47ohm 1/4w (bit larger)
still not working. any other suggestions? top portions of this board not getting power. nothing past the I802, C828

solder went ok. screen still the same... and no power to the top half of the board

Re: 1.2 ohm 1w resistor replacement
update #1:
the value of this resistor removed is 1.2 on the 200 settingthats a smile to me. even though its colors indicate .97ohm
gonna solder this bad dog in.

Re: 1.2 ohm 1w resistor replacement
It will take that as a two thumbs up for the lower value resistor .97ohm
no, no, no more dumb things.........hehehI will post them results

Re: 1.2 ohm 1w resistor replacement
it belongs to this thread:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14701
i blew out the Q803(mosfet) by shorting pins 2,3 ... i've replaced the Q803 and removed the R811 and tested it. I get infinite on the resistor while removed on all settings of the DMM. This machine is an elo 1525l monitor. I've got a same/ similar circuit on another elo 1547 that has a bad screen in it with horizontal lines. The parts are almost the same, just diff layouts. The Q803 was a mosfet sss4n60b replaced with an stp4nk60zfp...Last edited by BlkSmth; 06-12-2011, 12:07 PM.
