  • Re: Vizio VX32LHDTV10A Intermittent scramble of picture

Good idea about the aluminum foil. I mostly have worked on PC's since the 90's so TV repair is pretty new to me. Was wondering what BGA actually means. With CPU's you actually use the cooling agent on the chip and then attach the heatsink with fan. Some have suggested using a hair dryer but I would think actually using a heat blower would be better as you can adjust the level of heat. One would sure not want to overheat the chip which I have done by simply not connecting the heatsink fan properly. Live and learn. I will give...

Are you suggesting the method shown well fix the cold solders or should I replace the board? Maybe the method shown with a blow heater would be worth a try? But on a TV board BGA chip there is no heatsink and as far as I can tell no paste has ever been applied to what looks like the chip. Maybe even applying some Arctic Silver to the chip anyway would keep it from overheating.

Overheating is something that occurred to me. I watched your Youtube video for fixing Playstaion units. Thanks for the tip. Never considered heat flowing. On a TV board though I am not sure they even put something like Arctic Silver on the GPU. There is a metal plate mounted on top of the main board so I am wonderring if that is causing overheating. The link of the part is exactly like the board I pulled. Except it has (4B) instead of (4C). Do you think the (4B) will work?...

  • Vizio VX32LHDTV10A Intermittent scramble of picture

The picture on my Vizio VX32LHDTV10A intermittently scrambles and then comes back after awhile. But then would scramble again eventually. I was going to order a new main board or T-Con board but the part number shows a (4C) at the end. I have not been able to locate the part with the (4C). The number is 3632-0162-0150 (4C). I am wondering if a part number with a different number in parenthesis at the end will work? Also, is it possible there is some other issue causing this problem? How do you recommend I troubleshoot this problem?

    Hi Bud,
Still trying to figure out this forum business. My question is: I have a Vizio VX32LHDTV that was having intermittent picture scramble and then return to normal for awhile and then back to scramble again. I pulled the main board which from what I gather also has the T-Con board. The the number on the board is 3632-0162-0150 (4C). How important is the 4C? I have not been able to locate one for sell with that number at the end.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

My name is Don and Just joined the site. Still trying to figure it out. I have been into building computers for years. I live in Clintonville, Wisconsin. A few turns in the road somehow made me end up here. Long story. About a year ago I fixed a Samsung TV by replacing the T-Con board. It was s stab in the dark after watching a Youtube video online. It has been working great ever since then as it was having all sorts of issues. I won't get lengthy here but now I and trying to fix a Vizio TV that has been sitting for years. I...
