• how to read these?

Hello, I may be needing to order new caps like the ones in the picture. How do I read the numbers on this style of cap and what is the best method of shopping for these? Also what is the component that I have labeled as "??" Thanks for any help....

No I don't have an esr meter. Is there a cheap one you could recommend? Also, I've never replaced anything surface mounted so that will be another learning curve. I hope I'm not in way over my head.

• Samsung Syncmaster 205bw

Hello, I replaced all of the caps and the monitor worked perfect for about a week.

I made a post earlier regarding a cap replacement here --> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=57249

Then it started having unusual display issues. It would show random colors or suddenly fade into a white screen and when unplugged and plugged back in, it would reset it and go back to normal. However, now the screen is showing as really dark with a red tint to it and unplugging it to "reset" it does not work. Please see photos attached. I have also...

If I were to part this tv out, what pieces could I sell? (not wanting to sell a part that is broken) The tv powers on easily so I'm guessing the power supply board is good.

Well, it isn't pretty that's for sure. This thing is super tiny and I kept having trouble with the solder creeping up onto the wire instead of sticking to the joint. It may be my lack of skills. (see first photo) I powered up the tv and I am still left with the dark shadow across the left half of the screen. I decided to take the bezel off while it is still hooked up to see if in fact the tabs along the edge are even the problem. once the bezel is off the picture shines a bright white whith tv image bearly visible (see second photo). No adjustment, tapping,...

• Re: Sanyo DP46848

Thanks budm. I am going to give it a try but I think I need a little more instruction. You're saying I can solder a wire from the bottom of the POT (that used to be attached) to one of the empty R18 copper squares on the board? Which of the two R18 squares does it go to? There are also two silver looking tabs on the board in the same area, will I need those soldered to the two metal tabs on the side of the POT?

Thanks again for helping me.

Excellent. Thanks for the reply! As I am fairly new at this, which areas of the part should I solder to the board? The two metal pieces along its side? Or also the metal pieces coming out of the bottom of it. I don't have a photo of what this was supposed to look like to begin with or how it was attached. Thanks!

Sanyo DP46848

Hello,

Here is the short version of my story: I am trying to fix this tv (Samsung DP46848) and need help identifying a part that appears to have broken off despite how gentile I was trying to be. Can I just resolder this piece back onto the board somehow? (see pictures below)

Here is the long version of my story: The first problem with the tv is it started showing a dark shaded bar across the top of the picture (about 4-5 inches thick) and when I flexed the tv (bending the corners a little) the picture would clear up.
Then after a few months the tv was dark...

• Re: Replacement question

Thanks for the reply. Long story short I ended up just re-soldering the old one back on since it wasn't bad and replaced the ones that I knew would work. Now my monitor works like new!

I agree, I wish there were more instructions with the kit since it came with extra caps and I'm sure they sent me the one for the different model (after carefully selecting the correct one to purchase). It was for a power board on a Samsung Syncmaster 205bw. The listing is here

• Replacement question

Hello, This is my first repair and first time soldering. I bought a kit for replacing some capacitors in my LCD monitor. All was going smoothly until this question popped up. I am replacing a 10uF 50v but the new ones to choose from are a 22uF 50v, and a 1uF 50v. Are any of these compatible? Thanks for any help. (see photo)...
