Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Left it on for a few hours this morning- nothing other than that first initial reboot.
Came home this afternoon- it has been on for about 1.5 hours- nothing whatsover.
I was actually just tapping on various bits on all the different boards just now trying to get it to do something wrong- nada.
UGGH.

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
One of the 3 little square blocks of ?rubber? was partially stuck to one of the 3 large black squares. Just in the center- a small circle of it.
I didn't know it was for cooling- so I let it run like that all night- no symptoms.
I turned it back on this morning, and after about 5 minutes it rebooted once- but has not done it again since.
If I have to turn it off before spraying the cold- then that is useless unless it is showing the green dots which it...

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Went to the store- bought a heat gun and 2 cans of air.
Removed the metal cover over the A board, backed up the data onto a USB drive, and am now waiting for the TV to act up- and naturally it is now behaving perfectly. Uggh.
I either need for it to shut down and stay off- not immediately reboot, or do the green sparkle thing while on.
So far- nothing. Which is frustrating because it normally started shutting down fairly quickly once started.

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Thank you. I will look on YouTube and try to reflow the a board after I back up my calibration data. Is there any special flux that you recommend, or can I just pick up whatever from the local hardware store?

On the internet people show their true personality. You must forgive me for seeing the irony of someone who behaves like that calling someone else an ignorant ass. You wouldn't speak to someone like that in real life.
I didn't say redneck or noob- you did. Are you subconsciously self associating? And yes it sounds like a hackjob way to go if you ask me. I doubt electrical engineers at Panasonic are sitting around doing that to...

Real mature responses guys... Seriously?
I asked several times- how would a faulty video chip solder cause the unit to click the relays like crazy when the set is turned off. No one has an answer?

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
I didn't take any pictures as everything visually looks fine. I am familiar with what a failed capacitor or bad solder joint looks like. Sure it could still be bad solder, but if I can't see it by eye in person you probably aren't going to see it in a picture.
I am also hesitant to spray a thermal shock onto warm components- especially given that the A board is no longer available- I have to find a used one if I want one- why risk damage to mine which may be...

Also- just sitting at my desk again right now, tv is off, and it just machine gun fired the relays about 20 times in a row really quickly.
If the A board is the video board and the power supply is naturally the power supply and has the relays on it- I am confused as to how the video board, with the machine off, is causing the relays to freak out? Of course I am not the expert here... just want to make sure I try to find the right part- since I will need to search for a used one.

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Good morning,
Thank you for replying. You are correct- I bought new screws and replaced them- no change.
The unit is now mostly just shutting off and staying off until I either unplug it or wait for 10-15 minutes and it will come back on. No blink codes 99% of the time.
Are you sure it would be the main board? I have read that a faulty power supply board can cause all of my symptoms- green haze, shutting down, reboot, relays clicking.
The...

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Also oddly enough- the screws holding the hdmi board are black, and all the other screws inside the unit are silver on all the other boards...
I am going to the local hardware store to see if I can match up a silver screw and replace the black ones.
Not that I think it will fix the problem, but since I don't know what else to do at this point, it is worth a chance...

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
OK so the TV is down and the back is off of it. Just looking around everything looks fine nothing visibly discolored swollen or burned.
One thing I did notice is the top of the main video board that has the HDMI ports – there are two screws that not only secure the board but apparently are supposed to go through the back cover and then into the board.
Those two screws are secure in the board but under the cover, not from the outside.
Any thoughts? The...

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Well- unfortunately to put a hole in your theory, at least for me- I am right now again sitting at my desk, tv is off- and it just clicked the relays again.
This time it wasn't just a couple clicks- it machine gunned them, very fast and for probably a good 10-12 times of on/off cycles.
Also, I am noticing a new trend- it doesn't do it every time, but some times now when watching the tv it will flash/flicker once and I know it is about to die- once it flashes/flickers once...

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
I have to find someone to help me get it off the mounting it is on so I can take the cover off.
I can try to film what it does- but it is totally random on timing so I would have to do a lot of editing- that I don't know how to do.
The current behavior- no fault codes ever- hasn't blinked an error light since last summer when it was acting up.
Turn the TV on- normal 3 fast clicks- normal boot up, picture looks great.
After a few minutes,...

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Well- right around my last post, last September, the tv just stopped acting up and worked perfectly until about a week ago.
It is now doing the same thing, out of the blue all of a sudden after all these months- and more often now, I keep rebooting it but where last year it would stay on for a while, now it shuts back off every few minutes.
HELP!!

Not yet. Getting the tv down off it's stand and opened up is going to take some help. Maybe this weekend.

Here is the service manual if it helps any of you....

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Bad BGA on the main (A?) board would suck (I googled what bga was).. since I couldn't fix that myself and would need a new board, probably hard to find- and which would mean I loose my custom calibration.

Re: 60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
Hi guys.
Thanks for the response.
In looking at the service manual- it appears there are 2 power supply boards- a main board and a sub. I guess I will visually inspect both once I have it off it's mount and open. A bad solder would be ideal, as that is an easy fix as long as it isn't tiny.
The 8 blink code points to the sustain board though. No idea what the green dots on the screen mean.

60ZT60- green dots, shutting down, 3 blinked once, 8 blinks a lot of the time..
My 60ZT60 is dying. Which totally blows. I have only had it a few months, it has extremely low hours, and I had it calibrated by Chad B and it looks fantastic.
Symptoms- the first time I noticed something, I turned it on to watch the news before work. After 5-10 minutes, the TV simply rebooted itself, same clicks and master panel logo displayed as if I turned it on myself. Picture came back and everything was fine after that.. but I did not leave it on much longer and went to work.
That evening- turned it on, somewhere in the first show, it rebooted again. Same...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi,
I'm Josh. Back in the 90's I used to play with building computers- dual cpu, 4 disk raid drives, overclocking, video cards for gaming, etc... these days I just surf the web and check email - my playing is focused on cars and motorcycles.
I am here because my 60ZT60 TV is acting up. I think you guys can help, so I will make a post and keep my fingers crossed.
