Re: Vizio SV420XVT1A no sound
Attached are pictures of the boards. The square board is the audio board. The rectangular is the main board. This TV has RCA audio output jacks but I do not have any device i can plug into it to test. Unfortunately there are no headphone audio jacks on this unit either....

Re: Vizio SV420XVT1A no sound
The speakers do produce a pop as a result of being energized when the TV turns on. I also ran the speaker wires through a sweep function generate and they produce sounds, so those seem to be ok. I am not quite certain if my problem may be on the main board or the audio board. On the audio board, I am not getting the 3.3V to the Tx Board, however, not sure if that 3.3V is also missing on other components of the audio board without a schematic that may be part of the output drive for the speaker system....

Re: Vizio SV420XVT1A no sound
I checked the speakers with a function generator and they do work.
I also found the service manual for this unit on another thread and performed the DC-DC Converter check, which all checked good. There is also a "Trouble of Speaker Out" section which I went through. On the TX BD/Tx Card I only had the issue of 3.3V on Pin2 of JC2 missing. It shows 0V only. I also checked pin 1 and 3 on JC2 and those show 0V as well while plugged in....

Vizio SV420XVT1A no sound
Hi, I just got a Vizio SV420XVT1A from my sister in law. However, the unit has no sound. I tried the cable input as well as HDMI and reset all video and audio settings but still no audio. She said that she sometimes had audio for about 30 minutes and it would quit. Was at random. Currently I can't get any audio out. I have tried the unplug and reset options online already. Anyone have any pointers at what to look at on either the main board or the audio board?

Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
BTW, where might I find that BL_ON at? Which board or which connector would it be on? I couldn't find any markings that said it on there.
also, may it be possible that only half the lamps are on while in normal operation and when entering calibration it turns all of them on, making the screen brighter? Not quite sure how those LCD monitors work?!

Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
Well, let me rephrase thatLOL. When I had it at my work desk with lots of light i could barely see the image. Now at home at night with lower to no light it is much better visible, and with the cover off i can see the lamps light the whole time. However, as seen from the pics, the screen is not very bright, even though all contrast and brightness is set to 100. Only when hitting the down arrow on the menu it gets bright and the picture is clearer.
Perhaps another issue?!
Here are the caps on board...Last edited by sawickipeter; 05-17-2010, 09:58 PM.

Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led
Hey guys, I just got one of the FPD1930 from work. The monitor turns on and I can barely see the computer screen. However, the backlighting seems not to work during normal operation. The only way I can get the lamps to turn on is when I enter the monitor's menu (front buttons) and select the calibration, but once done, the lamps turn off again. Unfortunately I do not posses an ESR meter, so no clue if the caps are good or not, but as from these posts, I guess I shall replace them since they do use the LTec crap.
Anyways,...
