  • Re: Solarized picture on Samsung UN65ES8000F TV

Just want to update with you guys regarding my problem. I also want to expression my deepest appreciation with all the help you all have given.

It took me awhile due to purchasing some items from China. I have always wanted a hot air station but since I don't use it often, I bought an el cheapo china made 858D from Ebay which cost me about $30 shipped. Only read some reviews on these hot air stations and they had problem with the internal wiring where the live wire was going directly to the board and not through the...

I can't thank members of this forum enough expecially Davi.p and dskall for taking your precious time to help me. I think I have some low melt desolder wire and will attempt to remove the gamma chips and exchange them....

Yes, that would be my last and cheaper option before shelling out money to buy a used but expensive board....

Davi.p. Thanks again for your expert advice. You are right that due to my lack of knowledge of electronics, I purchased the defective board because mainly to hopefully reuse the "good" gamma ic but you have pointed out that even if I can use that chip, it's not going to last as long as a new gamma ic and that makes total sense.

could you possibly point out to me a link to the chip that I need? Thank so much for your time.

Incidentally, I went on Ebay and saw a person selling the same board but defective for $3.25 shipped. I went ahead and order it and just received it today. Upon installing, I got the picture as attached. Half of the screen is clear while the other half has vertical lines. I went ahead and measured VG1-14 voltages and got:

    VG1: 14.8
    VG2: 14.6
    VG3: 12.9
    VG4: 11.4
    VG5: 10.3
    VG6: 8.7
    VG7: 7.8
    VG8: 7.2
    VG9: 6.3
    VG10: 4.8
    VG11: 3.8
    VG12: 2.2
    ...

Thank you all for the replies. I do apologize work has put me off from continuing on diagnosing the problem.

@dskall. I measured VG1-14 and I got the following readings:

    VG1: 13.7
    VG2: 1.4
    VG3: 3.8
    VG4: 6.9
    VG5: 11.4
    VG6: 6.4
    VG7: 1.8
    VG8: 1.3
    VG9: 6.4
    VG10: 4.8
    VG11: 3.8
    VG12: 2.2
    VG13: 0.4
    VG14: 0.3

Is it safe to say that this board failed?

@dskall. thank you for posting the spreadsheet. Though I don't totally understand it but I will look into it to understand and will test the board within few days.

@rickou. Yes, the menu is solarized as well. I am hoping it's the T-con and not LCD panel. T-Con would be the cheaper fix....

Davi.p Thanks for the post and my apologies. I thought of taking the picture but I was eager to get my hands on the T-con board so disassembled the TV without taking a picture prior. Anyway, I put the T-con board back and took some pictures for you to see. Comparing of what were posted on the internet, I would think the picture is solarized.

in any case, please be patient with me as I don't know much about electronics but I do know how to solder, however. I do admit that soldering the IC is a little challenging especially...

  • Solarized picture on Samsung UN65ES8000F TV

Hi gents. My Samsung UN65ES8000F TV has been great until just about 2 weeks ago, the pictures on TV became solarized. My wife called a serviceman and he thinks it's the T-Con board that needs to be replaced and wants $400 for parts and labor. I took it on myself to go online and read more about the problem and it appears most of the problem is due to T-con board. In my case, when I pull up the menu, it also appears to be solarized and not clear thus this leads me to think the problem is indeed the T-con board.

I watched lots of youtubes and most of them mentioned of replacing a...

  • Samsung PN50B860Y2F plasma clicking on an off

I have just acquired a broken Samsung PN50B860Y2F that is clicking on and off when the TV is turned on. When plugged in the red standby light is steady. When I use the remote to turn the TV on, the TV just click on and off. The previous owner told me that he had purchased a new power supply and replaced it but the clicking continues. I have researched the problem and have viewed couple of youtube videos on how to pin point the problem by disconnecting the wires to the the main board, the y-sustain board, the x-sustain board, and the logic board that were connected to the power supply and turn...

  • Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on

this is an old thread but I want to express my gratitude to veaux, budm, and all those who contributed to the resolution to the problem with this TV. I have the same TV and my problem also was like veaux and it was also repaired after replacing the mosfets. Without this thread and all the knowledgeable people on this forum, the TV would have been in the landfill and more money would have to be spent to purchase another TV. Again, thanks so much.
