First post.

I aquired this tv for free today. I was told it worked great and just failed suddenly.

I took the rear cover off to find no voltage in or out of the rectifier on the power supply board. ceramic resistor/ fuse R850 is blown.

Jimmy sells a replacement power supply board for under 70 bucks.

My question is, thats a lot of money to spend to find more problems in a tv this old.

Does anybody have any expeience with this model that would make me feel confident that I wont find any more problems after...

Long time rf guy in satcom and microwave but havent done board level in 30 years.

Im hoping you guys can help me and I will return any knowledge I have in return.

I find I can fix almost anything with a little help from the net. I repaired the car after the wife got riped off for 475 bucks that did not resolve the issue and fixed for a 35 buck part. Repaired my dishwasher for 15 bucks when wifey wanted a new one, and the list goes on.
