  • Re: Samsung 58" UN58J5190AFXZA Bad Mainboard

Follow up guys. I replaced the main board. I now have remote control response, can get into menus, can auto program the receiver for the local DTV channels. Have yet to try an HDMI input source, but will soon.

Now for the thing that started to happen after about 5 minutes of being on. The back lighting started to flicker slow at first, then increased in frequency to the point they would go out. Seems to be a breakdown in the PS/led back light circuit, or a bad led/strip. So on to the next episode! TB

Thanks guys, I have ordered the main board. Will be able to check the brightness setting when I get back into the menu. My other Samsung 46 is set at factory defaults at about 70%. Supposed to get the board in on Wed, but not holding my breath due to the Christmas shipping rush. Will post results after main board installation. TB

  • Samsung 58" UN58J5190AFXZA Bad Mainboard

Hey guys. Bought a 58" Samsung UN58J5190AFXZA that didn't work (real cheap). It was unclear exactly what didn't work, only that it "suddenly" stopped working. I also confirmed that the screen was not damaged, so thought it was worth a look. Upon plugging it in to see what it would do, it came on and was on the tv input, only I had to use the joystick on back to turn it on, it would not respond to the remote (remote works fine on my other Samsung tv). I plugged in some rabbit ears and let it program the tuner and that worked. Then I changed to the HDMI input and that's what didn't...

Oh, and also, in the service manual this is the first line in the instructions for entering service mode.....
    1) Before entering the adjustment process mode, the AV position RESET in the video adjustment menu.

Probably bad translation, but does that mean to go into the main menu settings (not service mode) and then to the video settings and do a factory reset of the video settings? I did that, just in case that's what that line means.

Ok freak, I understand letting go as soon as the backlights come on, no sooner, no later, but after several attempts at doing just that, it still goes to the 1-1 code. Are you saying that yours will get to the K screen when you do that? I'm not sure how much faster I can let go of the buttons lol. Thanks TB

  • Re: Sharp LC-80LE632U 1-1 Code

Ok guys. I got back on it. I put the original tconn board back in it. So now the original ps and tconn board is in it, and has the replacement mainboard in it. I now get video and sound as long as I push VOL+ CH- while plugging it in to bypass the 1-1 code. So I guess I'm where you are freak. Now I'm trying to get to the service mode, but following the service manuals procedure (Vol- Input while plugging it in) wont get me to the K screen, it will only go to the 1-1 code. Is this 1-1 condition going to prevent me from getting into the service menu...

To further answer you question freak, I did have a bluray player connected to the hdmi ports. But I don't have a video signal to even show the onboard menu, or to show what input port is being used.

  • Re: Sharp LC-80LE632U 1-1 Code

Thanks for responding freak. The background of the unit is this...
One of our clients owned this. they called us because the unit was in an error condition. The error code that was flashing was the 2-3 code, the manual indicated that it was a power supply error 2 (*2) D+3.3V error. Being that this thing was on the wall at the clients site, we ordered a power supply board ahead of time and took the board onsite to swap it out to see if it corrected the error. It did not. The client has since bought a replacement unit and the old one was brought...

  • Sharp LC-80LE632U 1-1 Code

Hi guys, visited this site several times in the past and found some very helpful info on various repairs. This time I thought I would post a question and see if any of you could help. I read a lot of posts about this model (thanks Freakafter8 for your post). I can bypass the 1-1 lamp error by holding down the Vol + and Ch - while plugging it in (and one other combo, I'll have to double check what it was). After doing this, the leds will come on and stay on and the error code is not displayed. You can then turn the unit on off with the power button and the leds will light every time, as long as...

  • Re: Ceramic 3 Legged Resitor Source

Thanks midibob, I did see that thread, and I have constructed a similar device. I have two 5W .39ohm ceramic two legged resistors that I have connected together. I just dont know if these 2 legged ceramics are suitable replacements. Or, if Im making my own out of two resistors, are the ceramics suitable or should I be using another type when connecting two together? The readings are good, and I dont see why this wont work, but thats what I dont know for sure. Thanks, TB

  • Ceramic 3 Legged Resitor Source

Hi guys, dont post much here, but have found some very useful info in the past, and I thank you for that. Here lately, I have trying to find a source for this ceramic 3 legged resistor pictures below without much success. Its a 0.39ohm resistor that goes in the output circuit of a Realistic STA-2270 reciever. Found places that say they have th 0.33, or 0.47 versions, but not the 0.39. Any idea where to find this thing? The reciever is a 1985 model if that helps. Thanks for any advice. TB
