Replaced PU6...pluged in power and bzzzzt ,magic smoke came out of the replacement as well...

After a bad storm it died. PU6 (2808) was fried, along with a few resistors on the LAN connector.

Sorry about that. I got my seriesssssss all mixed up, and when I edited my otoginal post I didn't change the subject which made it more confusing.
I have bulged KZGs and trying to decide what to use for replacement.
