Re: Viewsonic VE700 slight ripple across screen
Thanks for the feedback guys. It's not my video card, because my other monitors do not display this symptom, so I'll do some resoldering on the controller board, see if that helps.

2nd observation: Ripple goes away after about 10 minutes. Solder warming up?

Viewsonic VE700 slight ripple across screen
Hello to all,
I'm working on the above monitor, and everything is working relatively well, except that I get a slight (difficult to notice) ripple across the screen every 3 or 4 seconds. It's not the inverter, because I have a spare inverter and A/D board for this model, and after chaning the A/D board, the ripple was gone.
Could this be the scalar xtal oscillator? I don't have a scope, so I can't measure the output.
Thanks!

Re: Acer flashing Red/Green/Blue
For the sake of closure, this problem (miracolously) rectified itself. Left the monitor unplugged for several days, when I hooked it up again, no more red/green/blue, and monitor goes to standby (amber lED) as intended.

Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker
For the sake of closure, the original FET push-pull drivers solved the problem.

Re: Acer flashing Red/Green/Blue
Ok, I'm happy as a pig in **** that the monitor is up and running, but at the end of the day, is it normal for the monitor to go into what I can only describe as "test mode" both when on w/o signal and when it should in fact be sleeping?
My guess is that this is a firmware issue. Could anyone tell me how to flash this (Acer AL1716) monitor? Sorry in advance if there's already a sticky on this topic.
Many thanks!!!
Oh, and scenic....prost!

Acer flashing Red/Green/Blue
Changed the controller board on this monitor, and all I'm getting is flashing full screen red green blue white!
Help!!!

Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker
This is INSANE!!! The SM I need can be found through this link: http://www.fixya.com/support/t4044126-power_light_blinking_no_other_response
It's the power board for a E172FPb. The E153FPC uses 8 pin smd fet ic's.Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker<... smd fet ic's.Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb

Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker
Sweet mother of Jesus! No wonder everything is all wrong! The board is from a Dell E153FPC!!!! Does anyone know what are the FET's that drive the inverter circuit? Because I was obviously using the wrong ones!!! Or does anyone perhaps have a schematic? My apologies if one is not permitted to make such requests.

Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker
I agree MMIt can often be frustarting, but it's worth it in the end. And yes, schematics can be dodgy. Better to look at the circuit and apply your knowledge. In the case of transistors and fet's, the polarities will tell you which way it should fit in the circuit.
Quick note: since the monitor does not have brightness control, that would indicate a problem with the inverter IC.

Thanks PBI'm already in the process of reversing the damage
Yes, the monitor did cost 5$ (and then 6$ for the fets! lol!)

Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker
I think I need to retract my previous agreement and resubmit it to you plainbill! Changed the ccfl, and no changeTo be honest, I have a feeling I placed one of the fets in backwards, but the schematic has both both FET gates placed on resistor junctions, so I followed the schematic instead of the printed GDS on the board, but something didn't seem right.
At the end of the day, it is ending up to be too much work, for a monitor I can sell for only 30$ at bestLast edited by 11flint; 02-28-2011, 06:40 AM.

Re: Top Half of Dell E151FPb Darker
Brightness control doesn't have any effect at all, in other words, nothing gets brighter or dimmer.
Contrast goes up and down evenly.

Thanks for that smason. I'll try the controls in a moment.

Is something maybe touching chassis ground that shouldn't be?
