Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
Update:
I bit the bullet and eplaced the whole power board for $60 and the tv is working like new again, which I'm excited about.
However, I'm still really bothered by the fact that I have this board where sometimes my TV powers on and my TV will work flawlessly as long as I leave it on. The only thing is it doesn't turn on sometimes. And that sometimes recently turned into most of the time.
I checked all the diodes, resistors, and rectifiers on the new board vs old board and everything is the same. Everything...

Re: Samsung PN63B550T2FXZA Power Supply Fuse Blows When Plugged In
So the big ones are SR506. I'm measuring 0.16V and on the datasheet I found "maximum forward voltage" to be 0.67V.
The small ones are IN5819. I'm measuring 0.20V and on the datasheet I found "forward voltage" to be 0.60V 0.90V.
Is it safe to assume these are bad? If so, what're the chances these 4 little diodes are the end of the problem?
How can I verify I have a stanby voltage and PSon?
Thanks for your help

Re: Samsung PN63B550T2FXZA Power Supply Fuse Blows When Plugged In
Ok so today I removed every diode from the circuit and tested them all with a multimeter in diode mode. The 4 diodes circled in red in the picture below seem faulty. They all show a voltage drop of less than 0.2V and I believe a good diode shows 0.4V-0.6V.
Question is should I replace them and hope those 4 diodes were the last of the problem or do you think there's a lot more wrong with this board?
It kinda makes sense why the 2 small diodes near the FETs I replaced went bad because...

Re: Samsung PN63B550T2FXZA Power Supply Fuse Blows When Plugged In
Update:
I replaced the 3 FETs with the exact replacement parts and used the lightbulb trick. When I plugged in the TV the light bulb didn't come on at all, which I assume is a good sign.
Then I put the fuse in but when I plugged the TV back I still wasn't able to turn the TV on. It had the same symptoms as before I replaced anything. It just makes weird clicking noises and is unresponsive when trying to turn it on. However, the fuse didn't blow when plugged in which is good right?

Re: Samsung PN63B550T2FXZA Power Supply Fuse Blows When Plugged In
Thanks for the prompt replies everyone. Really appreciate it.
When I get home I will see if I'm able to figure out which FETs I need to order but I may need some help choosing them.
Question about the light bulb method though: which side of the fuse is positive and which is negative? Also what kind of light bulb should I use? Fuse is an 8A 250V is that means anything.
I will also get post images of the whole TV once I get home.

Samsung PN63B550T2FXZA Power Supply Fuse Blows When Plugged In
So I have a 63 inch plasma with the model number in the title and the other day while watching TV I heard a few clicks and the TV shut off. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't respond to the remote or the power button (red light flashes on TV normally when button is pressed on remote or TV).
I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it clicks a few times then the standby mode light stays on but once again it is unresponsive to any buttons.
So I opened it up and first thing I did was tested the fuses on the power supply. 2 of the 3 were good (marked green in the...

Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
So the part came in today...however it appears to be about half the size physically of the one that's already on there. Do I have the wrong one? Or could it be that this one is just smaller physically? They're both red film capacitors with the same shape. Just this one is smaller....

Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
Sorry for the late response. I got busy with the fall sesmester starting.
Anyways I still want to get to the bottom of this strange problem. I've been using it these last few weeks and same thing has been happening. For a while it was turning on and off perfectly but again it's back to its old ways. It's even worse than it ever was now. Now it's extremely hard to get it to turn on whereas before I could at least get it to turn on and work for me with a little fiddling.
I tried heating up the main board with a hair...

Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
Do you think it's a bad C802 capacitor?
What I can't seem to figure out is why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
Thanks for chiming in.
I will take off the motherboard and powerboard today and look for bad solder points.
In the mean time, how can I find a good replacement for the C802? I googled the 2 things it says on the capacitor but I couldn't find anything. The capacitor has these 2 lines on it:
333hs1600v
nppsc03pp
The only information I can comprehend from this is that I need a 0.03uF film capacitor that is at least 1.6kv (2.5kv works too?). But I am not sure at all about this so correct me if I'm wrong...Last edited by yompi; 08-20-2016, 10:08 AM.

Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
That seems to be a different issue than mine. Maybe it's one of the sustain boards for you.
Mine works perfectly when it works. The issue for mine is with turning it on.Last edited by yompi; 08-20-2016, 09:03 AM.

Re: LG 60PA5500 Turns On Then Off
First of all, thank you for the quick replies. I really appreciate the help.
Ok so I went to sleep last night with it in working condition and I left it plugged in to recreate the problem this morning.
I have attached the pictures as requested.
The 2 red lines you see on the overall picture is what I already did as troubleshooting to (hopefully) rule out the y and z sustain boards (I think that's what they're called).
When it wasn't working this morning, I unplugged the TV, then unplugged...Last edited by yompi; 08-20-2016, 08:56 AM.
