Re: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3
Right above your top PCI-E slot there is a similar circuit for your other Ethernet port, The chip is labeled RTL811IC (some generic Realtek Ethernet chip) same as the one on the circuit you are trying to repair, measure the resistance across the unburnt coil in that circuit to find the value of the coil you want to replace. The coil is labeled LL2 you want to replace LL1. Hope this helps....

Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 REV.5.0
Hello there, I recently discovered a missing cap on a motherboard of mine while removing the GPU to replace the TIM, whether I knocked it off removing the GPU or if it was already missing I do not know. To avoid the question, there was clearly a cap there before as the leads are still poking out of the board. I have identified the missing cap as an APAQ 560uF 6.3v 6mmx9mm solid cap, identified as EC40 on the PCB. I am trying to figure out what this cap is actually for. My two options to fix this bored are to RMA (if they will take it, still trying to get them on the phone) or to replace the cap...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey there,
I am a Chemical Engineer by profession but a computer hardware enthusiast by passion. I am quite proficient when it comes to the basic engineering of hardware but when it comes down to the nitty gritty of the individual components of a PCB, I am quite amateur. I found this forum when I discovered a missing cap on a motherboard.
