  • Re: 17MB55 problem

Just a quick update for you. Ducky very kindly emailed me the firmware for the board and after loading it into the board, using a usb stick, the tv started up and now runs okay. The firmware Ducky supplied was excellent and loaded into the board very easily in about 5 minutes
Many thanks to Ducky and thanks to you others that offered help.
    Chris.

Hi Ducky, thanks for that. I haven't tried flashing the firmware as I wasn't sure if the firmware would be generic for all the 17MB55 boards or if it would be specific to this part number. Also, to be honest, I didn't know where to get the firmware. Is there a website that I could download it from?
As regards your offer of asking about a replacement board. It would be interesting to know if the cost would be low enough to make this an economic repair. The tv is one I picked up for free and is only worth about £60 if it was in working order, so for a repair...

    17MB55 problem

Hi guys. I have a Celcus DLED40125FHD with a VES400UNDS-03 screen and a17MB55 23182338 motherboard. The tv will not come out of standby and it is definitely seems to be a fault with the motherboard as I have tried a known good psu. I have tried freezing the memory chips but that didn't work. All voltages appear to be there. When I try the on button on the remote the set will flash the standby light 6 times and then go back to steady red. I was going to just buy a secondhand board for it but there doesn't appear to be any with the correct part number available online. Do any of you know if there...

  • Need help with an LG 32LD690 problem.

Hi guys, I am posting this in the hopes that one of you may have heard of this fault before or can give me an insight into the most likely cause.
I have aquired an LG 32LD690 which has a fault that is difficult to track down.

On start up the LG logo appears, then the picture appears. After a couple of seconds the picture flickers madly for around 10 seconds then stabilises and the set runs perfectly afterwards. The fault happens so quickly that it is difficult to pin it down as by the time I get on to it with any test equipment the set is running normally. It is definitely...

  • Unusual fault on a Sony 40v3000

Just thought I would post this fault up as it is a bit of an oddball and this write up might help someone else in future. I certainly hadn't heard of a fault like this before, but maybe you guys know different.

The fault was that the picture appeared to be split down the middle and the left hand half of the image was in reverse. Also the screen was not giving a full width display. The colour was fine and on trying a menu setting the menu also displayed back to front on the left hand side.
I tried a factory reset, but the fault remained.

    I figured the fault...

  • Re: Sony KDL42W706B Tcon board question.

I am trying to work out how to upload a picture of the tcon. I have taken a picture with my phone but can't work out how to put it on here. Before you younger folks laugh, just remember, some of us went to school before we even had pocket calculators and have only learnt to use a computer in later life. That's probably why I can spell words correctly.

  • Sony KDL42W706B Tcon board question.

Can someone please tell me the correct part number for the Tcon board in a SonyKDL42W706B with an AU screen type T420HVF06.1
The Tcon in the set is duff and there is no label on it to tell me the revision number.
The board is a T420HVN06.2 but there appears to be two different numbers for the Tcons in this model. Pease advise if possible.

  • Try a 10uf cap instead. That is what I measured the other two caps at and I replaced my faulty cap with a 10uf 50v cap and it works fine....

  • Hi, I had the same problem with exactly the same cap. I measured the others at 10uf, so I replaced the faulty one with a 10uf sm cap and it works fine....

  • Hi guys, I am Chris, a retired engineer living in Southampton. In the last year or so I have been repairing a few TVs just for a bit of fun and to keep myself occupied. I have followed a lot of threads on this site and always found it informative. I hope at some time I can offer information to help other users, but as my working life wasn't spent on tv repairs I only class myself an amateur compared with some of you guys.
