Thanks for all the pointers and help guys, what a great community.

Tomorrow, when I go look at the TV again I'll try removing the ribbon cable on the inverter and see whether it stays powered up. I'll let you know the results. Currently following the rabbit hole of links regarding this inverter, and enjoying it more than I should.

Hey Folks.
My dads Technika is having some issues. When coming out of standby the blue standby light goes off as normal and the screen comes on for about 2 seconds before turning back off into standby mode.

Much to my puzzlement I have replaced both the power supply board and mainboard, and still have the same issue. The parts were cheap and I can probably re-sell on ebay quickly, at least.

Could it be the inverter? I thought that would manifest itself in image distortions rather than a power on-off cycle, but what do I know!
