Here is another picture of the ribbon. Took the TV apart and found that the ribbon leads directly to a board that's wired into the screen. Assuming this means the TV is toast....

First time asking a question, so please stay with me.
Purchased the above Tv 2 days ago and decided to try and fix it. Screen is black, but lit up. Top half of the screen is not as bright. Powers on, but there is nothing on the screen.

Took the back panel off and I noticed some weird rust or corrosion where the tcon board attaches to the panel.

Does that mean the entire screen is shot, or are there pieces I can replace? I don't want to buy a bunch of parts to try and fix it if the screen is the problem.

Oh, and no sound.
