  • Re: Help, with fence energizer, I got 2 hrs left!

I couldn't get a reading so I assumed there was no resistance. Sorry for my late reply, I'm
suffering the effects of a dodgy DSL connection now that I've moved to the very rural reaches of Maryland. Snow, rain and bad winds have a very negative effect on Verizons ability to keep me connected and the past few days we've had a lot of the latter two.
My friend up the road brought me a solar energizer so thankfully I don't have to keep beating my head over this problem. I want to thank all of you that tried to help me out,...

  • Help, with fence energizer, I got 2 hrs left!

Been a long time since I've been here, and I sure wish I still had the leisure time
I used to have back then, lol
Anyway I just have a quick question that I hope somebody can help me with. Below is a picture of the circuit board from an Electric fence energizer. The burn spot had, at one time, the oblong white piece that's just sitting above the two black wires to the right, it is blank with no markings or numbers at all. I gotta get this thing fixed before dark or my horses and 2 cows are gonna figure out its not on and mutiny will likely ensue!
If In got to replace it...

  • Help repairing a missing trace

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="2"]I could really use some help figuering out the best way to repair this trace for a Mini B 5 usb connector on this ridiculously small Trio Tablet/MP3 player that belongs to my granddaughter, I'm not the best "Solder Tech" (Probably one of the worst lol!) so I tend to stay away from small stuff like this, but this time I promised. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. The pic isn't the best, it's the first connection of 5 between the connector pads, I tried to draw a red line, but now that I posted it I can hardly see it!...

  • Re: Help!, Customer cut the caps off!

Actually it's a low end am3 board, it had 10, tk caps in it, all leaking. I think he said it came out of an Emachine. (He brought the cut off caps with him, he said
in case he had cut off the wrong ones I could put them back on).......OMFG
I'll give The heat gun, needle thing a try, but the first board I ever worked on,
haq a knocked off cap and lets just say my waning patience got the better of me....lol
    thx guys, Pesti

  • Help!, Customer cut the caps off!

I'm ready to tear my hair out, honestly! I had a customer call me about his bad mobo, when he told me that there were a bunch off "little round barrels with
junk coming out" I gave him the news, with the basics. He asked what could be done and I explained that the bad ones had to come off, and replaced with better, new ones for a start. I shot him a really decent price for an unseen
board, and he said he would get back to me.....Well this AM he shows up at the shop with his board, and tells me he got it started for me, and omg! He had cut
    every leaking cap...

  • Re: List of Bad Cap Manufacturers

I just pulled 10 TK 6.3 1800uf from a newer E-machine no name board with 8 leaking and 2 full blown. Either something else is wrong with this board (besides being an E-machine, lol)
Or you guys should definitely make sure that they are on the first list on this thread.

  • Re: Help with Part ID

My camera sucks, well actually I'm an idiot when it comes to things I'm not interested in
and this POS camera (That's "piece of ****" lol) is one of them. I managed to get a decent
close up of the board this am but now I can't seem to get the settings to the same place.
It's an old Sony cyber shot, from like before Win xp, and it doesn't have an instruction manual it has an instruction "Novel" The settings arn't logical and I don't have the patience right now to figure it out again. Anyway, Here's the deal, The inductor...

  • Re: Laptop Motherboard Repair

Well here's a good one on the HP dv series with ffc power cables, replace them, even if they look good, The originals are crap and I personally had two DV6000 that I went thru the ringer with trying to diagnose them until I read an obscure thread on a music forum of all places, One guy said he had a friend that worked for an HP supplier, and that there was a lot of "Rukus" about a ****load of crappy ffc cables......anyway on a whim I took down one of the offending laptops and switched around the two ffc cables from the power board, since they...

  • Foxconn Winfast (NF4UK8AA)

Ok so I decided I'd throw caution to the wind and bid on a used combo, Mobo, CPU, and 4 gigs of ram, knowing when I read the "No returns accepted" that I was taking a chance. But hey for $57. plus $5 for shipping, I figured that I'd do ok if only 1 of the 3 worked. Well the ram all checked out, 4 pieces of DDR 400
Corsair value select, and the Cpu, Athlon 64x2 3800g, was just fine also.
The motherboard on the other hand drove me nuts because It booted just fine but would not read any keyboard, no keyboard, no bios, no Os....Well like usual
I just had to try to figure...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

First off as a new member I want to say Hi! I'm an old gal with a new computer
build and repair service, I work out of my garage and I'm pretty much self taught, with a few specialty night classes here and there over the years. I probably would not have even gone into an actual business save for fact that
I've spent the past 6 yrs working on first relatives, then friends, then constant
referrals, and really have nothing to show for it. When the majority of my regular customers and relatives started suggesting...
