• Re: Soniq E40W13C-AU TV Stuck on standby

    Yer not wrong, dragon....I replaced the B1117-Adj and the TV is fixed. So the voltages on a working 32" TV are:

Vin = 5.105v
    Vo = 1.5200 (fluctuates about 0.5%)
    Vref = is 0.2718v.
    Iin = Current into Vin = 176mA also fluctuating.

Being mindful that the device could have been overloaded to damage it,
    I initially mounted the new one on a heatsink above the board with a 1ohm resistor in series with Vin. Boy, does the LM1117-adj get hot! There's...

  • Re: Soniq E40W13C-AU TV Stuck on standby

    Fascinating post, thanks dragon - made me think. It provides the solution without answering my question. Most of my diagnosis is by what things "should" be, only rarely by what things mustn't be.

    On the device in question Vref=Vo-Vj is never 1.250v, so it's faulty, done. The panel led stays red no matter what, yet Vo and Vj are fluctating as if there's somebody at home and the set is trying to start.

    I've just ordered some LM1117-ADJs from RS. Many thanks for your quick response!

  • Re: Soniq E40W13C-AU TV Stuck on standby

    Many thanks to all for the great info on Soniq TVs.

    I have a Soniq E32W13A-NZ just come in, stuck in standby. Following this thread, the BM1117-adj Vo=1.422 seems suspicious but not convincing.

    The Vo resistor divider measures at 100Ω to gnd and 467Ω to Vo (with the BM1117-adj still in place) which would set Vo to 1.518V. No sign of heating or stress. So 1.422 suggests an error there, but is it enough to stop the TV coming out of standby?

    Can anyone tell me what the output voltage of...

    Hey ausvantage....do you still have any of those ASM1117-ADJ regulators for sale - I'd like to buy a couple. My email is taru875@gmail com and I'm a Kiwi...

  • Re: Samsung PS51D450A2M plasma - no pic or sound

    Thanks Sevenqi - Sorry for the tardy response - I didn't expect to be outa town this week. Once off the chassis, the Xsus board became very bent/distorted, like a dish. Not much discolouring, but heat I guess. So just test bit by bit, huh? Ok, I'll get into it when I'm back in the 'shop next week, and post back how I get on. - thanks again.

    Thanks Dick - After 50+ years in electronics, why didn't I think of that? Doh! But having no idea what the X&Ysus boards do does add to the confusion. Is a circuit schematic available anywhere?.....anything similar would sure help. Result: Ysus seems ok, Xsus has VS s/c to chassis. Is there a cunning technique to find the short or do I just start cutting traces to isolate the bad spot?

  • Samsung PS51D450A2M plasma - no pic or sound

    My first post....my first plasma.....a Samsung P51D450 which won't start....heartbeat LED blinks about every 6 sec. No sound or video. Relay clicks on and off and my analogue multimeter connected to Vs doesn't stir.

    Power is fed to Xsus from the Ysus board. I can start the smps by disconnecting Ysus (and therefore Xsus) *and* the Ysus ribbon cable from the control board. Then Vs and Va sustain their correct voltages and the heartbeat LED blinks ever y sec. So the smps appears good, but still no sound or chime. If I isolate Xsus (both with or without the Xsus ribbon) the Ysus fault...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    I'm an ancient electronics engineer fixing whatever comes in the door. More comfortable with PCs than TVs. I'm really impressed by the generosity of the contributors here - there are some great exchanges! Many thanks for all the hard work being shared.....
