  • Re: UE40D5500 random reboots

Voltages are correct, the reboot interval is fixed ( gets shorter when the tv gets hot). It is the mainboard fault...

  • UE40D5500 random reboots

The Samsung UE40D5500 reboots after 2-5minutes (turns off for a second and then boots up). To me it seems like it can be psu LED protection circuitry issue most likely or somekind of mainboard fault (tv has the neeest firmware, but maybe eeprom or nand chips are playing tricks). Before I remove all led protection I am looking for guidamce about the repair and what could be the real cause and whether or not my assumptions are correct.

check for voltages 12v, 5v 3.3v and if there are voltages at gpu/memory throttles.

  • Re: Zotac 980ti shorted capacitor in VRM

I have seen 2x 980 ti with burnt gpu chips and every phase for memory and gpu was shorted. I have seen artifacting gtx970 too with red artifacts. Seems quite common for them, crashing when drivers installed seems to be a gpu chip issue.

I have even got one rx480 8gb in my hands with shorted out 12v from pcie connector, the gpu resistances seem very very low for me.

I have got multiple artifacting r9 290 cards due to faulty ram issues.

to repair this gpu the faulty mosfet needs to be isolated and...

  • LCD projector acting up

So I have an old astrobeam lcd projector that at first needed a tap/knock on it to get picture back (picture kind of faded away colors went off etc at last image went to blue). At first I thought that it was caused by faulty picture clock oscillator, but I tried working oscillators and it did not went any better, so after that I concluded that there is somekind of problem with the cpu pw166b (since all colors went off not olny one or two and it had nothing to do with the inputs, applying pressure near the cpu chip area made the picture to come back) and I tried heating it, but after heating there...

so those components seem to be bit off at the readings, but only desoldering tells for sure.

    Re: Yamaha RX-V390RDS

So the DTA114 was just part of the protection circuitry, it was not faulty. It seems like the problem is actually on the main pcb voltage regulation. Will check q133 and d109/110 on the main pcb.

  • Re: Xbox One Blown Mosfet

remove all those 1007r3 inductors that are connected in parralel (the all 5 should be, but if you can then you should remove all those five inductors)to the shorted one. If the short is still in there then you have a fried cpu/gpu chip. That´s it. By removing inductors you can tell where the short is - in the vrm side or the gpu/cpu side. And when you are going to replace the parts replace the mosfets in a set (lower and upper) + the phase driver IC

    started a topic Yamaha RX-V390RDS

    Yamaha RX-V390RDS

Okay so I got my hands on this nice Yamaha receiver. But it powers on then shuts off after a second. After fiddlind around with pressing all the button combinatons the receiver started workiong and worked excellently for a month, then the problem came back. The output relay doesn't click. But some standby voltages were wrong. I replaced all 2sc1740s and dta114 on the front board. The problem is still the same, but the dta114 voltage appears to be correct.

It seems to me that, either the replacement transistors are faulty (hopefully I will receive my transistor tester in the next...

  • Re: Sapphire HD 7870 possible short

I tested everything else on the card and if somebody wants a picture about the shorted mosfet, well there it is. But the gpu memory mosfet itself could be just fine at the worst case of scenario. The short could be caused by GPU memory itself (atleast half the rams are dead) or the memory controller within the GPU die. I will solder the mosfet off and report back then. Let´s hope for the best. BTW that shorted mosfet is very very common AMD cards and most likely it is the faultty memory controller within the gpu die ....

Well I am kinda the guy who just tinkers with electronics. Most of my experience comes from experience. My posts will be about repair journies that others can follow.

  • Re: Sapphire HD 7870 possible short

Again, speaking a bit off-topic. But what about GPU memory phase mosfet shorts on AMD cards? The card displays only black image, the fans are spinning etc. The lower (speaking from memory, not 100% sure, but it is the larger directfet mosfet) mosfet is shorted to the ground. I am hoping to remove it and if I remove it and the short goes away from the pcb then the GPU and memory are OK, hopefully. Can it be fixed by replacing the mosfet? Or the mosfet itself is good, but the GPU memory/ memory channels within the GPU die are faulty?
