Heya, so recently a MacBook Pro 2017 A1706 820-00923 reached my table, showing no signs of life at all. I am trying to use it as an opportunity to get more into the details of fixing Apple products. What I did so far might not have been ideal, but I am trying to improve.
The story I got told:
The MacBook received a new battery at some point and later at a random point in time just stopped working. Some specialist shop tried to diagnose the issue but only tried another battery - concluded mainboard damage and returned it to the customer.

Re: MS-16F2 ver1.2 bypass shorted PCB , partially Solved
Hey there, sorry for reviving this thread, but I need your advice.
I recently received a "dead" notebook from a friend, which misses the complete power socket section. It was in "repair" shop once, I think they might have done more damage than anything else.
As you might be able to see, PL1-3 are missing completely, PQ27 is shorted on Pin 1-3.
The board is a 2.0, not a 1.2, but that should not be much of a difference.
Could you tell me if your fix is still...
