Re: Acer 5250 0816 Powers Off
Checked PQ34, here are my results
+S1 -D8 = .478v
+S2 -D7 = .477v
+S3 -D6 = .477v
+S3 -D5 = .476v
-S1 +D8 = 0L
-S2 +D7 = 0L
-S3 +D6 = 0L
-S3 +D5 = 0L
-S1 +G = .896V
-S2 +G = .893V
-S3 +G = .893V
From what I've read it looks good, am i heading in the right direction!

Re: Acer 5250 0816 Powers Off
These are the voltages i get when pushing the power button.
PL7 1.8v
PL13 1.059v
PL19 .990v
So I am assuming these are to have voltage with just power connected.
Can I check the voltages on those mosfets to see if their alright, and how would I go about it.
Thanks

Re: Acer 5250 0816 Powers Off
Yes fan spins as I had mentioned in my first post.
Are you talking about the cpu?
Not sure how to flash a bios if it won't post, I've only flashed a bios once and that was on a working computer.
Here are some voltages
PL1 19.36v 19.36v
PL2 4.65v 4.65v
PL3 19.36v 19.36v
PL4 3.334v 3.324v
PL5 5.06v 5.06v
PL6 4.65v 4.65v
PL7 0.000v 0.000v
PL10 19.36v 19.36v
PL11 1.102v 1.102v
PL13 0.000v 0.000v
PL16 ...

Re: Acer 5250 0816 Powers Off
Thanks for the reply............. yes I tried that, I have two sticks of ram and tried them in all combinations.
Not sure if the laptop was dropped cracking the screen and causing damage to the board or if it was smashed because it wasn't working.
Some voltages only show if AC is plugged in per the manual, likely a short somewhere. Here is the schematics....

Acer 5250 0816 Powers Off
Picked up this laptop with a cracked screen, no adapter, battery or hd. Used an adapter I had, wouldn't post. Took it apart, connected power, fan spins and Led1 on motherboard lights then powers off.
Here are some voltages
PJP1 19.36vdc
PJ1 3.323vdc
PJ2 0.000vdc
PJ5 19.36vdc
PJ11 0.000vdc
PJ4 1.102vdc
P13 5.06vdc
PJ 6 or 8? 0.000vdc
PJ14 5.06vdc
Took some readings after pressing the power button also.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Cooler Master RP 500 PCAR with bad caps
Thanks for the reply.......... yes I have to agree with you on the pos and heat issues. Likely not worth the time fixing it.
I like to do some leg work before posting here, you get better responses that way.
Into the e waste pile it goes.

Cooler Master RP 500 PCAR with bad caps
Picked up this psu, plugged it in......... nothing. took the cover off and found two bad caps.
Both are Samxon, 4700uf 10v GF 10mm x 30mm approx.
47uf 50v KM 6.3mm x 11mm approx. Ripple 133
Couldn't find any other specs, read that panasonic FR may be good as a replacement and these are gp caps. I have a used KME 47uf 50v Chemi-con ripple 110 esr 3.527
Whomever had it never took the time to clean out the dust as you can see. One wire looks like it got hot by the rail and there looks to be a wire on the underside.
Any help is apprec...

No i didn't try it in a dark room.
I will put those fets back in and try.

Q2 tested out of circuit
D+ S- OL
G+ S- OL
G+ D- OL
S+ D- .460v
S+ G- OL
I guess both are good, that heat sink was very hot though.
Looking in the wrong place, likely the ipm's i checked earlier, which are a known weak point. I thought maybe something else might of been shorted.
Should i replace 1 or both ipm's?
Ysus # 6871QYH063A, module # AEF31675201(A) 0651SANY(P), Zsus # 6871QZH067(A), same module as above.
Do they have to replaced with...

Rechecked in diode mode.
Q1 tested out of circuit
D+ S- OL
G+ S- OL
G+ D- OL
S+ D- .482v
S+ G- OL
Q2 tested in circuit
D+ S- OL
G+ S- OL
G+ D- OL
S+ D- .469v
S+ G- .196v
I am going in the right direction, where should i be checking next?

Re: LG 42PC5D Plasma no pic but sound
Readings from Q1
D+ S- OL
G+ S- OL
G+ D- OL
S+ D- 12. 14Mohms
Measured out of circuit, so it's bad? That heat sink was very hot.
Why would some diodes measure one way and others another way?
Thanx for all the help Tom66, without the help of you or others on this site and the internet, we probably wouldn't be able to fix our (my) electronic devices.
Where should i be looking now in relation to that fet, could that be the only part that went!
I did measure...Last edited by maddog310; 04-17-2013, 06:54 PM.

Re: LG 42PC5D Plasma no pic but sound
Ok, will do..... Q1.
What do you think of the values of these diodes also.
I checked diodes at D202, D203, D204, D205 plus others on ysus.
I get in diode mode.
D202 forward .434v reverse .790v
D203 forward .433v reverse .841v
D204 forward .446v reverse OL
D205 forward .443v reverse OL
So it looks like the first two are bad! Checked others on the board and they test like the last two.

Re: LG 42PC5D Plasma no pic but sound
Both voltages at the five red caps fluctuate.
Ysus caps read 96.1v and Xsus is 87.2v, both fluctuate a little, five red caps. Copied from previous post.
I checked diodes at D202, D203, D204, D205 plus others on ysus.
I get in diode mode.
D202 forward .434v reverse .790v
D203 forward .433v reverse .841v
D204 forward .446v reverse OL
D205 forward .443v reverse OL
So it looks like the first two are bad! Checked others on the board and they test...

Re: LG 42PC5D Plasma no pic but sound
I believe these voltages are good from what i have read, any where from 60v to 120v is good!
I think i have bad components on ysus, diodes and mosfets around the 15v section.
Details to follow....
