Re: [CURIOSITY] Why does A300 with failed nec tokin work fine after disabling cores?
Ok thanks. Am I ruining the CPU by running it this way? Because I currently have no way to fix it and I use the laptop frequently. When it fails, my cousin can replace it as he has done on a friend's A300 and it runs fine but he is not here for the next 6 months

Re: [CURIOSITY] Why does A300 with failed nec tokin work fine after disabling cores?
Yes, but when 2 cores are disabled, in fact the speed-step of the Intel CPU is disabled and both are running at full speed. I even ran Prime95 for half an hour or so, played games for hours (of course with good quality MX-4 thermal paste , clean from dust ) and not a single crash (yet).
Will the problem come back even in this situation? Because it seems that the nec/tokin is only needed when the speed step technology of the intel processor is enabled if I have understood correctly?

Acer 5920 no display (Intel GMA)
Hello,
I was given an Acer Aspire 5920 (the version with the GMAX3100 not the nvidia 8600m) and when i try to turn it on the lights come on but nothing shows on the screen, the dvd drive is responding, and when i close it the hdd/media led blinks as well. No display on external monitor, checked different rams/slots, cleaned cooling system and replaced thermal compound.
Any help?
Thanks!

[Important] Toshiba A300-1MM Thermal pad size
Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-1MM Laptop (this model has a INTEL GMA gpu and not a ATI Radeon one). My problem is that the thermal pad on the Graphics Card was removed by an unskilled techinician who have cleaned my laptop 2 yeara ago (I didnt know how to clean it back then) and replaced by paste. However, as i see, the gpu does not make solid contact with the heatsink just with paste.
Can you please tell me the size of thermal pad i need to purchase? I have found this image which may be helpful
