Dell Latitude 7424 Rugged Extreme, help !
It is working but the screen looks like the backlight isn't working on the display but my friend had tried an entire replacement assembly and it didn't seem to work after replacing the display, so he returned it assuming that the original display should still be in working condition as it was before it suddenly "died" on him - some things happened with the computer but nothing that should have damaged the display components physically... I really wish I had a little better understanding of what voltages/resistances I should be testing for and where to start looking first but I don't...

Re: HP Probook 650 G4 - Lost power?During AMT de-provision process, now I get blacksc
Scratch that, factory reset seems to have done the trick.

Re: HP Probook 650 G4 - Lost power?During AMT de-provision process, now I get blacksc
Cleaning me region with the file 12.0.24.1314_COR_H_BA_PRD_EXTR-Y.bin from the repository seemed to do the trick, everything is up and running again.
Except I still can't seem to get rid of AMT's managed status.

Yeah no problem, but as you'll probably see that is it's own problem... The serial seems to return no results in the search for some reason.
SN# 5CG9010W0Q ProdID: 4PY33UT#ABA - I can confirm it is the hex-core model though. Which also seems to have no drivers for the model under it's section, so I assumed the ones in the Probook 650 G4 section were sufficient.

HP Probook 650 G4 - Lost power?During AMT de-provision process, now I get blackscreen
First here is how things went down.
I entered the bios and began to de-provision Intel AMT - it began with a reboot and then prompted me to de-provision AMT - proceed Y/N -
I pressed Y and hit enter, and I thought the PC shutdown, but perhaps it actually lost power at this point. I had the power adapter plugged in but apparently the plug from the wall came out of the brick when I wasn't noticing so 1 of two things could have happened…
Something went wrong with the process, or it lost power during the process and corrupted something
I tried making a HP recovery...

Re: Request: Dell Latitude 7424 Rugged Extreme
awesome, thanks that worked out. Looks like it put me in manufacturing mode and enabled a suffix for me to generate a password @ bios-pw.org using my service tag.
Not sure how exactly you did that but I would love to learn if you are willing to share your knowledge. Just comparing them in a hex editor didn't exactly show me much other than what was different, I'm still lacking the most critical parts, why there, and why those changes?
Regardless, thanks so much for the assist.

Request: Dell Latitude 7424 Rugged Extreme
Hello friends,
I found myself at another dead-end, or with your help perhaps just a stumbling block.
I'm trying to figure out if the password is indeed stored in the BIOS dump file as it was last time I encountered a newer dell, which someone so kindly assisted me with and even pointed out where it was stored in the dump. What I didn't find out however was how they (Dell) chose to obfuscate the password so it isn't just cleartext sitting out for anyone to find given enough time and how to reverse the process. It seems like the dump from before is structured differently than...

Re: Schematic/Boardview Request: Dell Latitude 7424 Rugged Extreme
honestly, was just trying to identify the bios chip as there seems to be multiple possibilities but I haven't really been able to pinpoint the chip I'm looking for yet.
When I unpacked the .exe file from dell with the bios file it returned a 16mb file, yet the only bios dump I found online was for a 8mb chip... which I most likely found the 8mb SOIC-8 chip it likely matches up with.. but that's not the 16mb file size I was expecting when looking for something to fit the bios file found...

Re: Pass Locked: Alienware M15 R2
I can't hardly believe it but it worked, thanks a bunch! mind if I ask how you came up with that password? was it a master password or hidden in the dump somewhere?...Last edited by rive.hafintosh; 06-21-2022, 02:41 AM.

Re: Pass Locked: Alienware M15 R2
absolutely nothing useful as far as I can tell... i.e. no hash codes or anything remotely similar. just says system locked tell dell this error code and removes the unlock bios option until after reboot I'll take a picture when I get home and upload it...

Re: Pass Locked: Alienware M15 R2
That didn't seem to work either, am I supposed to flash this with the mainboard connected to the keyboard daughterboard via flex cable or is this just a difficult one for some reason?...

Pass Locked: Alienware M15 R2
I'm assuming there's someone that knows if it's possible and can point me in the right direction if it is...
Looking for a working method for removing a bios password on a
Dell Alienware M15 R2
Service tag: J7R4733
Board number: LA-H351P Rev1.0 A00
From my understanding the password is supposed to be somewhere on the EC, but I'm not sure how to go about wiping it from there. I did try flashing the 16mb chip with the "unlocked" .bin from another post here but it was still locked afterwards. So I re-flashed my backup for now.
Thanks for...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi,
a little about myself eh?

do a fair bit of repair work and buy and sell machines on ebay occasionally.
from time to time I find myself as a beta tester for android &
most of my time is spent tinkering with my hot air rework/soldering station fixing & building things from random components.
Also like making cables and such, anything to make music sound better, or just making fun...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, my name's Roman.
I'm a 26 year old male from Seattle, WA, United States so, PST time-zone.
All around nerd, built my first computer @ 8 years old. I consider myself a bit of a hobbyist when it comes to computers & hardware and am always looking for knowledge.
I test PAC-ROM for ClearChris for the Galaxy S3 and he referred me to this site.
I plan to document the opening and inspection of my new eBay soldering station and post it here, so keep on the lookout as I'm sure it might be interesting...
