  • Re: Samsung UN50H6350AFXZA 1/2 Panel Failure?

Hello all. Just wanted to post an update here about this broken TV. So I got into debugging it and as I mentioned before, the AVDD would come up for about 250mS then drop. I thought there might be something wrong with it, and had a spare TCON board so cut the trace to isolate it. Same problem. Then I noticed that ALL the power to the panel was getting shut off -- +15 (AVDD), +6.5, -6.5, and +3.3. I isolated all of those, SAME PROBLEM. OK, had to be one of the signal nets??? Well since I already had all the power nets cut on the TCON...

Thank you martino. I will further check the components on the lower PCB strip, however I don't believe that anything tests shorted at the moment -- my DMM reads something like 20K in one direction and "diode" in the other (when AVDD is negative with respect to GND, which is not normally the case). It looks like there is a clamp diode on the PCB to prevent AVDD from going below GND, so a diode reading would be expected in that direction. Should I expect a low ohms reading from a defective panel alone? If yes, then I don't see...

  • Samsung UN50H6350AFXZA 1/2 Panel Failure?

    Hello all,
I recently joined this forum looking for help and expertise in something I really didn't want to deal with -- I was settling in to watch the NBA playoffs when my 50" Samsung LED HDTV's screen went dark. It had been working fine, was purchased in July 2014, and up until now I had no real complaints. My background is EE so here's what I found when I dug into it... Screen was very dark "bluish" color, backlights were lit, sound seemed OK although my cable box is HDMI to a Bose Home Theatre, then that out to TV so I don't know if TV sound was OK or not. "Clicker"...
