I also had a problem with the memory on a Thinkbook 15 G ARE LA-K062p, in my case one of the 4 memory chips was short circuited, I tried to disable it but according to the schematic there is no resistor layout to remove the memory or I don't see it or I'm not professional enough, I tried disabling it by modifying the bios, but that doesn't work either, unfortunately. I detected a defective chip through the thermal camera, I replaced the Micron D9ZFW with another one and the laptop works, it's a pity that the mod that disables the memory in the bios does not work for this model....

hello mon2 , it's not just a problem in the dimensions of the chip, even though that smaller mec1503 looks like a thinkengine and not a thinshield to me, the problem is with the firmware that has to be written into the match 1503 itself, it's a big risk to buy new chips because they can come empty or the firmware that is in it is not suitable for the given motherboard. And for now a solution for R/W is unknown for me.....
