  • Re: Samsung Syncmaster 225BW

Sorry to hear that. My menus are ruined, The trouble is if i enter any area of my menu and then try and do one of the reset's the osd locks up so it will not reset.

Pressing "menu" = Get's the corrupt menu in the bottom left of the screen
Pressing "down" = doing this sometimes makes the screen come alive but in those weird saturated colours shown above.
Pressing "up" whole screen goes blue and flickers, this is the only part of the osd that works as from pressing the "up" button i can...

I been trying so many button combos but no luck at all. I still get the blank and unreadable osd's, corrupt menus etc... the best i get is i turn the screen on and press the "down" key once and i have a 1 in 8 approx chance of the screen displaying but when it does it is always in these crazy colours (see photos) . . .maybe i could sell the monitor to the Predator he will like the colours

I did a video to show aswell:

Yeah i saw the other thread earlier regarding the 7VTXE. I don't know how this motherboard has lasted so long either it's pretty maxed out with an amd 2400+ cpu i cannot get anything faster on it.

I could do with the soldering practice to be honest, and seeing you gone to the trouble of mapping out the board in good old paint i might aswell give it a shot. The new capacitor layout will be an interesting task. I'll order everything off the bay tomorrow hopefully. Nice one Scenic.

    [QUOTE=ppmz]Hi Guys,

My 225BW also started having ON/OFF power issues over the course of a month or so. Every time you got it to power ON, it would stay on, should I didn't think much about it.

One day I turned it on and the picture was all RED!

That is exactly how my SyncMaster 205bw screen looked when it first played up. It went red just like in the photo then i left it off and tried it the next day and the screen was all black basically (could just make out the screen was on though moving...

In the meantime aswell i just put an Abit NF7 and and an EP-8KRA2+ on my ebay watch list. My brother always complains about moving massive amounts of music on and off...

I tried the uk shops and i am faced with high shipping around £15 and am pretty put off. I'm sorry i made a mistake the 2x Choyo 6.3v (xr 105c) (the green ones) are obviously 1200uf and not 1000uf damn typo there!

Most are choyo and there are a few little GSC ones in the top right hand corner of the board. There are the purple ones 4 of them not sure of the brand though "O st I . Q" ?? lol

I would not mind replacing all the ones you say are gonna eventually fail but i don't want to spend out too much...

  • Gigabyte GA-7VTXH+ Rev 1.0 Bad Caps.

This motherboard has been alright i suppose it was the motherboard that came in the first "family pc" that my parents got back in 2002 i think it was. I guess nothing lasts forever. It's part of my younger brothers computer now and he was complaining to me saying "it would not turn on, i'm gonna buy a laptop now etc etc... because he is so inpatient" Well lol 5 minutes of looking and i think i have found the problem. Already soldered them out to show to you experts.

    Capacitors that have defo gone:

Well i am back to stage 1 again it seems. I got the 206bw board and hooked it up. The outcome was very bad i must say, i'm not even sure why the monitor reacted so badly to it. I guess it's just a no go.

Well anyway I got 3 IC EEPROM's for the memory, dvi and nvram from rapid. Got them swapped in and no luck still. I think it is the main chip on the board, the scaler... as i cannot come to any other conclusion. I have ordered the 206BW logic board in a hope i can get that to work in my 205BW. If i have any luck i will post up my findings.

Here's an idea for how crazy the logic board has become. I done a quick video aswell the outcome is totally random everytime i turn the screen on and off sometimes i can get a menu sometimes just a flash on the screen. When i swap the logic board over as i have two of these screens now all is fine.

Sorry i did not know i was violating the forum with your image rules it's a just force of habit from other forums seeing the img auto code button in the posting box. I cannot edit my posts anyway because there is an editing limit on my account, so changing them to how you all require it is not possible. If my photos are useless then please just tell me what i need to do.

OSD image and colour reset if that is what you meant are not possible as the osd itself is corrupted. I can press only the power button to turn...

Is anyone able to assist me please. I'm not sure what board i am supposed to be blanking or which IC on the board. The faulty board i currently have does not bare the code mentioned by wizard.

  • Samsung 205bw Logic Board Replacement BN41-00705C

Hello, sorry i am new here so i hope i got this in the right thread etc.

I've had my 205bw since sometime in 2006 always been good until the logic board went on it recently. I thoght it was gonna be the psu at first but after checking the caps i was baffled. I purchased another 205bw (so now i got two!) and i changed the psu's no change, swapped the logic boards and sorted.

It's all good and well solving the problem at hand but i am having a real hard time getting a replacement logic board because obviously i got a screen here that's perfect but without this part...
