Re: TEAC LEV24A1FHD replace RF socket
So, I tried to heat it up but it barely melted, I went up to ~ 480 Celsius. I only have a needle point head and unless I get a new iron/ station I can't change my tip.
Anyway, any tips or suggestions? I could cut it off to get in there, any issues doing that?

Re: TEAC LEV24A1FHD replace RF socket
Will have to get some de-solder braid, can't find mine. Sort of sucks, was hoping to only make one trip.

No way to get in there. Will need to remove it. Looks like it's just a shield?

I assume you mean the little metal box I photographed. I'll get into it when I get an opportunity. May not be for a day or so.

DIY smart TV or replace tv main board with newer model
What I have been wondering about is if anyone has ever tried replacing the main board in their older led/lcd TVs with a newer one or even with some android tv capture device thing?
He reason is that I have some older model tvs that would be nice to get away with a low cost (hopefully) upgrade and thought that maybe replacing the main board with one from a newer model might be the way to go.
As I don't have much knowledge in this area I came looking for the information I need and stumbled into this community.
I know in one of the tvs I have it uses...

TEAC LEV24A1FHD replace RF socket
So, I acquired a TV, that seems like it is actually pretty good. A Teac LEV24A1FHD.
The issue is that it has taken a bit of a beaten and part of the RF socket has been ripped off.
What I would like to know is if someone knows what the part number is for this particular component, where I might purchase it in South Australia (if at all possible) and any other details that might be good to know?...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Gday.
I'm a former computer tech, now developer.
Electronics is a hobby. Most of the time I have these ideas of things I'd like to do but don't know enough.
I found this forum as I recently got a TV and the RF input has broken off and I just want to replace that component. As we know a lot of electronics is just throw away and replace (at least at board level). I hope to learn and be able to actually follow through with some of my ideas.
