Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
I wanted to follow up on this for the people who are in the same boat. I ended up sending the main board off to Ernesto's Electronics and he was able to repair the board for $75. I put it back in the TV a couple days ago and it has been working great. I am still waiting to see if he replies with what the issue was. It looked like he might have replaced multiple voltage regulators, but it's hard to tell with the tiny solder pads.
Another option for those that have narrowed it down to a bad main board on a XVT553SV...

Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
Looks like I might be able to determine the correct output voltage by trying to determine which resistors are connected to the FB pin. The datasheet for the G5692 says VOUT = 0.8V x (1+ R1/R2). Now to try and figure out what those resistors are on the PCB.
Thanks for the input.

Attaching picture with U10 shown, since I can't figure out what it is....Last edited by stealth71; 04-05-2016, 07:43 AM.

Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
I will reorganize. I now see there is a small dot on the PCB next to the IC.
U32 - M11 G5684
1: 2.256V
2: 1.1mV
3: 4.96V
4: 5.10V
5: 1.287V
6: 1.287V
7: 0.791V
8: 0.794V
U2 - M041 G5693
1: 5.10V
2: 0.797V
3: 1.8mV
4: 0.805V
5: 4.87V
6: 1.6mV
7: 1.816V
8: 5.10V
U1 - L451 G5692
1: 5.10V
2: 0.799V
3: 1.4mV
4: 0.805V
5: 4.88V
6: -0.2mV
7: 2.525V

Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
Looks like most of these are 6 pin regulators. I only see U24 3-pin. I'm not sure what the easiest way to list this is. Is there a standard for numbering the order of the pins?
Location - Labeling
Top row pins
Bottom row pins
Datasheets are guesses. I have little electronics knowledge at this level.
U32 - M11 G5684
0.794V, 0.791V, 1.287V, 1.287V
2.256V, 1.1mV, 4.96V, 5.10V

Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
It's this board here: http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/f8f28dc4a19c21aeb55ee5774693fb5d/s/h/shopjimmy-3655-0122-0150-top_2.jpg
On the main board I see F1,F3, F8. Continuity tests good across them.
Voltages:
F1:-5.7mV
F3:5.11V
F8:3.2mVRe: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes ora...op_2.jpg

Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
I never even pressed the power button. (Not sure if the kids did or not) When I came out it was in this flashing mode and I was told no one turned it on. I did not see any display flashes or anything.
I read through that thread, but it seemed to end inconclusively. I have found many more threads that are never complete than ones where people fixed something. Maybe that is a sign....

Re: XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
Yeah I think these are all on their last leg. Just to be clear I should disconnect CN201, CN202, and CN203 then jump power from CN202-1 5v to CN202-11 REMOTE_ON/OFF via a 1-10k resistor. Then test the connectors for voltage again.

XVT553SV Vizio light flashes orange/white no display
Hopefully the experts on here can give me a hand troubleshooting my Vizio XVT553SV. Woke up the other morning and the light was flashing this pattern and just repeats forever. I tried unplugging it for a while and same thing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjj7fV_fza0
I took the back off and tested the voltage at CN202 1-3 all have 5.15v. Any input or help further troubleshooting is much appreciated. Should I start trying to test the voltage regulators on the main board or are there other things I should check first? Check voltage at fuses, capacitors?...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
My Vizio TV broke and I found the forum looking for more information. I work mostly in software, but play in hardware when I get the chance and it looks like the time has come. Look forward to your support and helping out when I can.
