Re: Toshiba 32AV502R Backlight comes on and goes off
Forgot to update. Received the new lamp from CCFLWarehouse. Side note, they package lamps SUPER SUPER well!! It had three layers of padding. Color me impressed. Only down side with the replacement lamp is the leads on either end were pretty thin gauge compared to the OEM lamp.
Happy to say, saved another TV from the landfill/ecycling bin.
Thanks to all that helped!...

Re: Toshiba 32AV502R Backlight comes on and goes off
Unfortunately there aren't many repair shops....hmmm, I can't think of any as a matter of fact. There is a local ecycling transfer station that accepts TV's etc. I spoke to the owner last year and told me I can have whatever I wanted as it helps him out. That's a crap shoot though. I've stopped over a couple of times throughout the year and it's mostly CRT's that get dumped....

Toshiba 32AV502R Backlight comes on and goes off
Having trouble nailing down the issue on this. I'm pretty sure it's the inverter board but want to be sure. Voltages from the power supply to the inverter board are all good (24v, 5 and 3) and stable even after the backlight goes out. I can't find the service manual. Only thing I found was the SMART troubleshooting guide.
All backlights appear to turn on. Is there something else I can check on the inverter board to be sure there isn't any other issue?
Thank you!!...

Re: Vizio E500i-A1 No Power
Success! It was the main board. I ordered the full repair kit from Shopjimmy as it was only $20 more than just getting the main board by itself. TV looks great!...

Re: Vizio E500i-A1 No Power
Sorry to bump an old thread. I have the same tv with the exact same problem. Were you able to diagnose this and get it fixed?
edit: Anyone have a link to the service manual?

Re: Philips 42PFL5332D/37 no backlight
SUCCESS!!! Replaced the caps and fuse. Discovered a short on the slave inverter to backlight. Made a quick repair and everything fired right up!!
Something was spilled on the remote and it doesn't seem to be working. I'll dig into that next.
Thanks for the expert help!!!...

Re: Philips 42PFL5332D/37 no backlight
Hind sight is usually 20/20, I should have just ordered them from the get go. I will see if I can source them locally.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Re: Philips 42PFL5332D/37 no backlight
I was debating on whether to replace it or not. Visually it looked ok but I should have checked it a little more thoroughly.
Thank you sir!!

Re: Philips 42PFL5332D/37 no backlight
After talking to one of the techs where I work, they informed me that the mystery components are inductors.
I have placed a Mouser order so now the waiting game.
Thanks for all the help so far. I'll update when I get the parts.

Re: Philips 42PFL5332D/37 no backlight
Another quick update and question. I removed a couple of suspect caps from the power supply board. One looks like it exploded out the bottom.
My question, right next to the suspect caps are L203 and L204. I can't quite figure out what they are. Both tested short but since I have no idea what they are.... Any clue? Pic's attached...
