Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F has Standby light, doesn't turn on.
Yeah that's what I'm seeing too. I did find one for a reasonable price, it would ship from Mexico, but if reliability is going to be an issue I may send my board to PTS Electronics to get refurbished.

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F has Standby light, doesn't turn on.
You're right, oops I should know better than that. Anyway, I measured the voltage on each side of the TCON fuse with respect to the chassis. It was always at about 0.21V or 0.19V each time I tried, and didn't change when I pushed the power button.
Resistance across the TCON fuse was 0.3 Ohms.

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F has Standby light, doesn't turn on.
I measured across the TCON fuse while pushing power button, but it measured 0V. Photo of the TCON board attached.
I measured PIN23 on the power board, with the main board disconnected, AC plugged in, backlight on... It measured 2.13V.
I guess I'll start looking for a replacement for the main board? Some good suggestions on this thread earlier.
Let me know if there's anything else I should check....

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F has Standby light, doesn't turn on.
I wasn't able to access the T Con board because it is behind a rivetted enclusure, see attached. Unless I'm missing something.
I have attached the voltage readings with all boards plugged in and AC power plugged in, measured from the back of the board. First with power off, then when I pushed the power button. None of the voltages changed when I pushed the power button.
Let me know if your see anything interesting....

Here are the voltage readings and a close photo of the pinout. Let me know if you see something that looks wrong.
Sadly, I don't have the remote control for this TV. I used a Fire stick in the hdmi to check for audio but didn't get anything....Last edited by checkport88; 06-07-2020, 09:43 PM.

Samsung LN40B500P3F has Standby light, doesn't turn on.
I'm trying to fix this Samsung LN40B500P3F LED TV for my grandpa. I suspect that there are problems with the main board based on reading old threads. I'm hoping that somebody still has a service manual for this.
Backlight comes on when I remove the ribbon cable from the power supply board. I basically want to narrow down the problem so I can decide if I need to replace a board or try to fix it.

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
Just thought I'd give you guys an update. I did attempt to replace all the shorted transistors, but it was too much of a job for me, since I am a rookie. Anyways I sent the board for repair to PTS Electronics in Indiana. A couple weeks later it came back, and I was a little bit worried that the buffer boards were going to take out the repaired SC board, so re-checked the buffer boards for shorts, and when I was satisfied, I plugged in the SC board and the TV works great! The repair cost me about $150 CAD I believe, but still...

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
How similar is the cct in TNPA5175 to the TNPA5081? Do you think that it would be reasonable to check all of the components listed by tw2005in the "tnpa5081 rebuild" thread?

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
I trust the meter, but it might be an operator error. Anyways, I think the buffer boards are okay.
Is there anything else I should watch for on the SC board. Should I be taking capacitors out of circuit to test them? And the diodes that are mounted on the heat sink, should I take all those out of circuit to test them? Or just test them in circuit and replace any with a short?
I already know I have to replace several transistors.

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
I am resisting the idea of sending the SC board in to get repaired. I would like to think that I can save some money and learn something by doing it myself. Although, if the replacement transistors cost too much I might consider sending the SC board in.
What else on the SC board should I be looking to replace?

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
I just checked the buffer boards as recommended, I was following the G20 troubleshooting guide (let me know if that was the wrong thing to do).
Results below:
On SU41:
TPSU15=467 k
TPSU16-220 k
TPSU17=658 k
On SD42:
TPSD29=470 k
TPSD28=220 k
TPSD26=653 k
Reference for all was VF_GND with screws removed.
All buffer ribbons connected.
SC board removed from TV
These resistances are not the same as the Troubleshooting...

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
Thanks for the advice. I have the technical guide and the service manual, which I will have to read through. I think that buying new boards is not really an option judging by the price and availability of them. I've been looking for something to solder anyways so I figured this would be as good as any.

Re: Panasonic TC-P58VT25 - "10 Blinks" problem
I re-checked Q661 and confirmed that it is shorted. I checked the other transistors and diodes, it looks like there are several that are shorted.
I probed from the underside of the board on the solder points because some of the legs were difficult to access. Would this yield the same resistance values?
What direction do I need to take now? Probably check capacitors, resistors, any thing else? Replace anything that is shorted. Should I be worried about the SD and SU boards?
