Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Thank you to all of you. Very awesome guys, fantastic help.
I was looking for a replacement board and shop jimmy is out of stock and I am not sure about the choices on Ebay. I was going to post a request in your looking for thread. Any other places? If one of you had it, I would rather give the money to you and badcaps.
Also is there any way to find out if the PS3/HDMI caused it? I do not want to hook up the console again if there is an issue....Last edited by Stormyme; 03-22-2016, 11:11 AM.

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Based on the last result of 0 it looks like dick_barton agrees with you.
The few times I was able to hold the power button on the tv on and have it work for a while, the video was great. The times I tried to hit the input on the remote, I was able to see the selection, then back to no signal....

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
I am going to Fry's Electronics store around the corner. I am picking up some 10K ohm resistors and hard drive jumpers. Anything else I might need? Anything you need? LOLLast edited by Stormyme; 03-21-2016, 01:48 PM.

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
P204 Pin 12 reads 3.2 only when the back light flashes on. Reads 0 in standby.
Is this turning out to be a main board replacement? If so will I be able to hook the PS3 back up using HDMI? I ask because I do not know if it was coincidence or cause that all this happened a couple months after hooking up the PS3 using HDMI. From what I was seeing all over the web in the beginning it looked like LG is known for this issue being tied to HDMI or PS3. Have you guys had a lot of LG's coming in with this issue?

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
P201 Pin 17 reads 0
P201 Pin 20 reads 4.4 only when the back light flashes on. Reads 0 in standby
I dont see P204...

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
When I plugged p201 back in and powered up the tv, the tv actually stayed on for a minute. Then it went back to flashing. The reading is a steady 4.1 now....

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Well this is surprising lol Touching the pin next to the label of ACD with power on reads 5.0. Waiting a minute reads 5.0. Waiting two minutes reads 5.0. Unplugged the tv and same pin reads 0.
To be sure I did the test correctly, The only connector that was not plugged in was the p201. The pin tested was the 18 pin according to your picture on thread 57.
Awaiting your instructions. Running to the market real quick....

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Oops I missed this requestI now have the connector from the main board unplugged from the power supply. I have the connector from the inverter board disconnected. That was the only way I was able to snapshot it. Did you want that plugged back in? Is the power to be on during the retest of the 18 pin? Probably so, but you never know lol...

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Yeah that is the one that was bothering me all night. I was wondering why I was getting two different readings on that pin only. When I retested it, I saw what was happening. When the back light flashes on its 4.1 and when standby flashes its 0. So is the power supply at fault or is it another boards fault for not doing what its supposed to? lol
By the way this whole experience has been exciting, fascinating and a complete learning experience. Normally when a tv breaks in this house, my guy just hauls it out to the recycle...Last edited by Stormyme; 03-20-2016, 12:14 PM.

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Now I see what your after and the discovery came too late, my camera battery died. lol I was able to grab 2 more shots before it did. If these aren't good after zooming in I have to wait about 30-45 minutes for the battery to charge to try again....

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
I am having a hell of a time getting a clear image of this for some reason. But if you zoom in this picture you can see the pin names match the front. The ACD is the 4th pin and retesting showed 0. I can't unhook those two cables on that side to center this power supply for a better picture....

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
One quick question. The tv has been unplugged for over an hour. Is there still current in that power supply? Should I be wearing rubber shoes? lol

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
OH post #45 in this thread answers that question I think. Those readings of 04.1 were wrong.
I just got home so I will be pulling that power supply now....

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Can we go with your assessment of the power supply not being the problem and move onto what your experienced gut is telling you it might be?I am only trying to minimize my chances of being fried. lol...

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
OK I am sorry, on retest the two readings of 04.1 are 0. Apparently I didnt angle the lead enough for the reading....
