Re: Samsung: Only working with Coaxial input
That's not quite how it happened.
The TV was working fine one day and my wife said it turned off by itself and then began to cycle on and off in the manner that a dead Samsung PS does. Nothing you did would make the tv come on and stay on.
A replacement PS was ordered and installed.
Once that was installed the tv would would turn on, and stay on. About 30 sec after turning to an HDMI input it would power cycle, in teh same fashion a dead PS does. Turn the tv on and use the coaxial...

Samsung: Only working with Coaxial input
Hello everyone.
Looking for any insight as to why, after a PS board swap, my Samsung PN58B650S1F ONLY works with the coaxial cable input.
If I try and plug the HDMI cable in it will only work for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds the tv will start to power cycle in the same manner that it did that led me to swap the PS. I have had the TV playing with no cycling issues now for several months but am growing tired of watching TV in standard definition.
In addition, if I try and connect say a usb thumb drive with pictures on it, it will also only work for about...

Re: I can't catch a break! Please help with Samsung PN58B650S1F
Two different USB's have been used same results. Both usbs also loaded with pictures after the fact and both recognized by tv, displayed one pic then went into on / off cycle. I would think if the format was off nothing on the drive would be readable by the tv.

the 1st way the tv had to be told to scan the usb, as I explained above, to try and find the update.
the 2nd and 3rd ways the TV auto found the usb drive and I picked software upgrade:

Re: I can't catch a break! Please help with Samsung PN58B650S1F
Thank you for being patient with me! I thought swapping a PS and getting the tv to power on was a milestone, now I just want to throw it out the window! lol
The following is what is on the usb and how I got there.
Took the zip file from the Samsung website and saved it on the usb:
once the file was on the usb I unzipped it:
When it unzipped this is what showed on the drive:
I went into the folders...

Re: I can't catch a break! Please help with Samsung PN58B650S1F
At the time that post was made, truth be told, No, I had not read all the downloads available. I saw the numbers and panicked. I loaded the only firmware updated on my usb and followed the upgrade guide.
The firmware currently in the tv is 2010/05/19_001018, this pic was taken today.

When the usb stick was loaded the TV searched and said there was nothing found to update with....

I'm sorry for the number of posts. I was trying to simplify things be separating the issues as they appear. It wasn't my intention to clutter the forum, only to keep the threads specific. I can see how that appears as spamming. I apologize.I have asked the moderators to delete the last thread in order to minimize the number of threads out there.
The information below is from that thread and may be useful in helping me.

Otherwise...........
TV would not find firmware update on my usb when prompted to do so. I also noticed that the firmware loaded into the TV was more current than the one available from the Samsung website as a download, so I'm not sure if it would of made a difference anyway.
The important info is as follows. While trying to update the firmware I unplugged all devices and Ethernet connection. I attempted to use the widgets and the tv...

I can't catch a break! Please help with Samsung PN58B650S1F
Well, it looks like the PS issue has been solved.
New(used) ps in place. These were the two old threads:
1st = https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52853
2nd = https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52992
TV used to only cycle but never turn on. Video can be seen in the 2nd thread of the relay cycle with no turn on.
A 2nd, working, ps showed up yesterday and I installed it.
With no inputs to the TV it powered on and showed static, GREAT!
Plugged in the...

More issues with Samsung PN58B650S1F (with video)
Hello again
Based on this early thread:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52853
I thought we had concluded that I had a bad power supply.
Ordered one up and it arrived today. installed everything in the reverse order of the removal of the original and when I plugged it in I popped the right fuse closest to the 120volt ac input. Unplugged it, replaced the fuse and plugged in again. This time the left fuse blew!
Took the board out and replaced with THE ORIGINAL BOARD, the one that brought me to...Last edited by ROLEXrifleman; 03-17-2016, 10:32 AM.

Re: Trouble shooting a Samsung PN58B650S1F
I know my limitations, and at this level in the game I'm just a board jockey. I wouldn't mind taking a stab at it but I'd probably have more to loose then gain. I did pull the board just to make sure there were no broken or loose solder joints though. All was good there.
I know going used parts is a crap shoot as well, but if $75usd gets me another year or two out of the TV I'll be happy.
So I should feel confident getting a replacement PS then?
Thank you very much for your help, it is greatly...
