The resistor was not shorted, but internally blown. So there was an open connection. I temporary soldered a normal 2.2Ω resistor and checked with my oscilloscope whether the IC generated a gate driver signal again. That was not the case despite the fact that the IC received a voltage from the power supply. Other surrounding components were all OK, so I concluded that the IC must be broken too. I replaced the IC together with the SMD resistor and that happily worked for me!...

Tonight I also tried to repair this power supply and in my case the repair was successful. I first replaced the MOSFET T70R380P by part 70S360P7 (IPA70R360P7SXKSA1) and the fuse. The ceramic capacitor was OK in my case. After replacing the parts there was still no output voltage. I checked the circuit with my oscilloscope and saw there was no chopping signal on the MOSFET's gate. So I checked the circuit that drives the gate and saw a blown 2.2Ω SMD resistor (marking 2R20) and I also suspected the IC being faulty. The type number of the IC is SSC3S211 by the way. I replaced both parts and the...3 Photos

Re: Dell U3011 no display after a few minutes
Hi all,
I repaired this monitor type today and also in my case there were some cold solder joints. I also had the problem with the heatsink that became extremely hot. It is the heatsink where the 2 MOSFETs are fitted, and on the other side, it is cooling an IC. I followed the post from rundll.exe and replaced this IC. The temperature is back to normal now, and the monitor has been repaired successfully.
The type number of the IC is TOP266VG, as you can see in that Youtube movie. You can refer to the...

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
Please read this forum carefully. It doesn't matter whether the power cable is connected or not. Heat up the heatsink and then try to power on your monitor. If the monitor works fine, I recommend to apply Sirzur's great solution with the power resistors. You can read his description and see some clear photos as well.

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
I think there are 2 possible causes. Maybe your T-Con board, or your LCD panel is faulty. I would try to replace the T-Con board first, because these board aren't very expensive. When you LCD panel is faulty, that will mean the end of your monitor...

Re: Samsung 2493HM - Power button blinking: BN44-00195A & BN41-00962A
Tonight, I repaired this power supply. I replaced two faulty FET's (FQPF9N50C) and the 0.22Ohm resistor. Besides, I desoldered the transformer between the FET's and IC MC33067P and removed all the brown glue. I soldered the transformer back and removed some brown glue on other parts. I preventively replaced the two 1000uF capacitors next to the white connector and one capacitor on the other side of the board next to the leaning diode. Fortunately all other smd diodes, zener diodes and resistors were OK. The...

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
Hi AlaskaCC, great that you fixed your monitor with the replacement part. As mentioned above, the problems are caused by the big chip (with the big heatsink on it). I replaced this mainboard for my customer last week and that monitor is working fine too.

I bought the last one on AliExpress 2 weeks ago. I hope you will find a source elsewhere. Good luck :-)

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
Hi AlaskaCC, I am afraid you purchased a bad 2408WFP and maybe your seller was aware of these problems before selling this monitor to you. I repaired about 3 2408WFP monitors and in all cases I had to replace the mainboard. I think this will be the only option for you.
You can also try to heat up the heatsink and see if it comes live. Good luck and keep us posted.Last edited by eaarnoudse; 11-23-2017, 02:40 AM.

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
Hi dbrubeck,
Another forum member (YulCmr) did some really interesting research lately. He did an X-Ray photography to check whether or not bad solder joints were present on the board. And the conclusion was there were no bad joints and all balls were OK. I am still convinced that the chip is damaged internally. And that makes the monitor immediately beyond repair...:-(

Ok, that is great. But for a double check, you should cool down your monitor completely and check if it turns on again.

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
Hi Biessea,
try to heat up the heatsink on the mainboard and see whether the monitor powers on. I think you have the same problem as other forum members here.
Never buy a Dell monitor again...

Re: Dell 2408WFPb / 2408WFP - No Power
Hi YulCmr and Locki. I read your last posts now. It's good to know that the solder balls on the BGA chip are ok after the x-ray photography, so reflowing this chip will be wasting your time... I am pretty sure now that the chip itself is faulty internally. Maybe one of the pins is internally broken. When you heat up the heatsink (and so the chip), the monitor will power on. After cooling down, the problem will be back!!!
There are more Dell monitor types that use similar chips on their mainboards and I have seen the same problem...

Did you desolder the part first? Otherwise, the measurement can be influenced by other parts...

ok, and try to look for shorted components. These components look physically ok too...
