Re: Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting
I'm reluctant to start unsoldering stuff from the main board until I have a better idea.

Re: Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting
What does it solder to inside the shielded box? There was what appeared to be a thin, flat wire that broke off.

Re: Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting
It's more than just the coax jack, it's broken off inside the shielded case. I assume I'd have to replace whatever is inside the shielded case.

Re: Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting
Heated the main board with a hair dryer and reseated all the molex connectors. Now I have sound. The tuner does not work unless I stick a screwdriver where the broken coax jack was. Is there a way to replace only that part of the board, or is my only option to replace the entire main board?

Re: Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting
The TV works fine except for the sound and coax input. It is not stuck in standby.

I can certainly give it a try. Surely someone I know has a hair dryer I can borrow.

For reflow? I've heard of this being suggested, but I've never heard of it actually working....

Proscan PLED5529A Troubleshooting
All the part numbers are the same as Haier LE55B1381
I'll tell the whole story including stuff that might not be necessary!
I bought this TV 2 years ago and it arrived damaged in shipment. There were some discolorations on the screen and the coaxial jack was ripped out. I filed a claim with FedEx and got to keep the TV. I figured it was still usable with these issues.
A year later, it wouldnt power on. I opened it up and replaced the filter caps in the power supply, and from then on it worked fine.
Interestingly, after opening it, recapping,...

This is the thread that brought me here . . . I assumed this was the amplifier board since the speakers plug into it . . . I'll create my own thread.
